After the recent news that Torres was pulled from the Glory 17 featherweight tournament rose, supposedly due to injury, many people, including myself, became worried that his fight this weekend would be canceled. He was scheduled to fight Shane Oblosnky in the featherweight tournament after this weekend, but those plans, as many already know, have been nixed. However, unless he's taking this fight injured, the rumors of his injury being the cause of his removal from the tournament have been greatly exaggerated (it might be more likely that Glory decided to pull Torres from the tournament after the backlash of his involvement in the tournament from the kickboxing community started). Either way, Torres is continuing his road back up and his preparation for the upcoming Rebels FC featherweight tournament by taking on 30-fight veteran Wade Choate, known for his striking style and his fights with Masanori Kanehara, Jens Pulver, Sam Thao, and Eddie Wineland. Admittedly, Choate isn't the best opponent that Torres could be fighting, but he's still a veteran and, after the skid that he suffered, Torres needs some build-up fights to get himself back on track, especially in preparation for the upcoming Rebels tournament featuring Will Chope, Yojiro Uchimura and Torres' quarterfinal-opponent, Takahiro Ashida. The point is, Miguel Torres is still fighting this weekend and that's fantastic.

EDIT:

If anyone in the area's going to this, post updates to the event here, please, otherwise there's gonna be, like, a 5-hour delay before the media sites release it and we all know what's going on.
