My GF doesn’t like scary movies but likes “spooky” movies. You know, festive type movies we can watch.

Last weekend we watched Cabin in the Woods, which was pretty dope. Hocus Pocus was honestly more scary.

I think the trick is to find a horror movie action adventure blend, or horror movie/comedy blend.

Lost Boys holds up as a really fun 80's throwback. Right amount of cheese and the right amount of scary, funny and cool.

Has she seen Tremors? Thats a goddamn classic.

Just recently saw Wolf of Snow Hollow. Brand new movie. Its technically a werewolf movie, but I think it fits your bill.

Dog Soldiers is a great army movie, that happens to have werewolves in it. More of a guy movie, though.

If she doesnt enjoy Evil Dead 2, break up with her.

lol I had to laugh when I saw 'GF friendly,' as I can relate.

Mine hates anything horror or scary, and does nothing but talk shit about the white girls in the film who make the wrong move.

"Why's that white girl running toward the house! I'd have got in my fucking car already!"

    lol

    So, what did you think?

My wife & I just watched it via DirectTV Cinema on demand last night. And we both loved it. I'll definitely be buying this on Blu-ray in a month or two when it becomes available. I think it has pretty high rewatch potential with its mix of quirky humor, horror/gore & memorable performances.

Sure, I was originally shocked as hell by the big reveal at the end but the more I ruminated on it, the more I liked that choice by the director, writer & star Jim Cummings. It worked for both me & my wife.

I've been doing the same thing with the not scary, scary movies.

Watched The Lost Boys for the first time in decades, last weekend. I was surprised by the slow build of the film. Definitely a cheesy movie at times, but nicely done too.

Just put on list this on Netflix for same reason, we don't celebrate it here in Italy, but became funny gimmick in recent years

Semi-lockdown turned it in movie night, so

But i still have to see it

    acceptable alternatives/additions

or just go even more classic

Any of James Wan's post-Saw movies

    The Conjuring 1&2, Insidious 1&2

After Saw he was accused of being a torture porn director so he made it a point to direct horror movies that were more kid/female friendly

Whats weird is Conjuring 1&2 still got rated R and literally nobody dies in them, or curses, and there is no bloody violence or nudity so I still dont know why they got rated R

Haha, groovy. I talked my boss into watching it tonight. All she and her GF watch are cheesy horror flicks but she hasn't seen it. She went nuts when I took my boots off and showed her my Ash v Evil socks yesterday. I went all out for it. Skull sweater coupled with a cross pendant.

I really enjoyed it. As I was watching it I liked it, but once it was over and everything started clicking and I thought about it more and more and it was better after it was over than it was while you were watching it.

Now, as a super werewolf fan, I was a little disappointed initially with the reveal. But the kill scenes were done well enough that it doesnt really matter very much, and a fresh take is always welcome.

Spot on, my brother. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Aw, man. I'll bet that was super-cute. You should have taken a pic & shared it. I love it when people dress up in Halloween clothing. :)
