I had to watch the weigh ins just to make sure he was fighting tomorrow. Dude is one of Japan's top prospects with a really exciting style and got almost no attention when he signed with the UFC. Maybe people are waiting to see his results tomorrow but you should be excited at least!

Nobody here wants to get very excited for a new Japanese fighter anymore.

Yep, Hioki pretty much flopped. Omigawa flopped (again). Gomi and KID are warshed up, and the best Japanese fighter just got cut for being boring.

My initial thought was that he had all the tools to succeed, but I just changed my mind today after watching some of his recent fights. I don't think he can succeed at BW. He is just too small, not strong enough, and more significantly he's too one dimensional.

I don't think he will get outclassed; he will have an awesome KO or two, but I don't think he will be anything more than an above average BW. He needs to drop down.

He seems to have some pop in his punches, those refs suck bad though.

Sadly, the Japanese don't perform as well in the US.

Definitely small, needs to be 125. He hasn't a problem yet with bigger guys but I still agree that he should drop weight!

He might look like a one dimensional striker but I've actually heard from someone that has trained with him that his jiu jitsu is very good.
