So as the GOAT poster on this site, GUERNICA was weary about punk's UFC debut. Personally I hoped he got smashed and went back to whatever bowling alley he came from. And after his destruction I was jubilant that there are no shortcuts for the famous in mma.
However, after listening to the mma hour with Ariel, I changed my mind a bit on punk.

King Mo made a point on the show that most guys would have tapped to strikes in his position. And while I think that tapping to strikes is reserved for the very mentally weak, I could see 90% of actors in their first fight tap to those shots from Gall. Mo even mentioned "you have a champ that tapped to strikes! But punk took it."

So yeah. punk is not a great fighter and shouldn't be in the UFC, but still had the balls to take those shots. Shots that gsp couldn't and eventually made him a 25 minute boring man-blanket.

Hespect!

Not true. In this case the topic was how King Mo made me respect cm punk for having the ball to make the walk and take those shots and tapping to them.

ppl keep moving the goalposts on cm punk. At first it was "he's never gonna fight" Then it was "he won't like getting hit in the face for real" "he's scared"

but the fact is, he got in there and wasn't afraid to bang. he got pounded but he never once stopped fighting. he was constantly trying to move himself into a better position. he never gave up until mickey got the choke in

Pshh. Ok. o_O
Anyone gain some hespect for punk after taking that thrashing and not taking the cowards way out??

I think most of the hate is unwarranted. I'll bet if he came from some other background other than WWE, people would be less critical of him. It use to be that people would respect someone like him just for stepping into the octagon. It seems like the same people who were salty before he fought are still salty after he lost.

Actors need to stay in the entertainment business.

I would beat the shit out of OP's dorky ass IRL.

Fucking ass-clown.

I'll give that to brother Punk. He kept scrambling till he got caught for real. Respect.

The only lesson you should have taken away is that maybe you just have a shitty opinion about things.

Finally! A sherbro with some damn sense! Look, I'm not a fan. But for a famous "actor," he really didn't want to quit. He hung in there untill he just couldn't any longer. Made me respect the guy, if nothing else for that moment.

Good point. I rewatched that shit and some of those shots were vicious man. Good on him for taking that ass whoopin' like a man. I'm interested to see him in a smaller show and see what he's actually learned.

Haha rememeber when every sherdogger said that they would have done better than punk and they too would have made the walk so he shouldn't get any respect?? Haha yeah.

If you're going to be butthurt about CM Punk coming into the UFC, then him not immediately tapping to strikes shouldn't change anything. In other words, you had a shitty opinion on Punk from the beginning. And comparing him to GSP just makes that even more clear.
