Fact: Before the Khabib fight, Dustin has only been taken down 3 times in his LW career.

Of course Oliveira is an all-rounder, a specialist in bjj but Dustin is a black belt in bjj too almost subbing Khabib in a Guillotine Choke when they fought. This is a weakness in Oliveira, he lost 2 matches via guillotine earlier in his career. Im not saying Oliveira didnt improve since his last losses, but if it ever goes to the ground (which is hard considering Dustin's TDD is good) Dustin would not be easy pickings.

Dustin is too sharp for Oliveira on the feet. Hes the best boxer in the UFC right now. KOed Conor, Gaethje, and dominated in striking exchanges against Holloway.

I dont understand how people are saying Oliveira would ragdoll Poirier. Yes khabib made it look easy, but Oliveira is no Khabib. His takedown weapons are not as advanced as khabib. Tony's terrible TDD only made Oliveira look good.

Chandler rocked him terribly in the 1st round. Poirier would KO him

Oliveira round 3 sub . Dustin is a volume puncher I don't see that type of fighter beating Oliveira right now. Also the Chucky Olives that lost by sub is basically irrelevant to this conversation. Oliveiras high guard muay Thai stance and long kicks will do him well in the stand up against Dustin's Orthodox boxing as well.

I do think dustin KO's Oliveira. I like both fighters and both fighters deserve this fight.

F*ck Conor.

And yes, I know Conor wasn't mentioned

What? dude, KZ alone took him down 4 times, Castillo took him down 3 times, swanson took him down 2 times, Grispi, Brandao, Miller, Pettis, alvarez all took him down. Dustin's very average TDD has been apparent well before he fought Khabib.

The X factor in all of Oliveira's fights is not who's more skilled and technical. 99% of the time, that is Oliveira. The X factor is whether he will fold under pressure.

Thats FW. After his change to LW he was never the same fighter he once was. The weight cut was terrible to his training and health

I like Dustin against Oliveria 65/35

Oliveira is nothing compared to Dustin

Gaethje sleeps Charles too
This, recency bias I think has made some of us forget Oliviera is a bit of a glass cannon. If Dustin and him fight it's going to be fireworks and a pure banger. But Dustin is more proven durability at LW and more firepower. I think he lays Oliviera out. Would love if I'm wrong, big Do Bronx fan.

If Dustin wins it most certainly won’t be from submission unless Charles was completely rocked. The past submission losses aren’t relevant. Charles’ bjj is light years ahead of Dustin’s bjj. Theres levels to what being a black belt means.

I see potential for both to win. I could see Dustin rocking Charles and being able to get the win. Dustin is a smarter fighter than Chandler. I feel like more things would have to go perfectly for charles to win. Charles has been very technically sound lately so that might be possible.

You said his career. A large portion of that is FW, where he was a ranked fighter and struggled to defend takedowns. In terms of his TDD, The main difference with him at LW, is that he's fighting mostly strikers. Even then, nearly everybody who tried to take him down at LW (pettis, Miller, Khabib, Hooker, Alvarez) ...they all succeeded.

Oliveria doesn’t have the power to make Dustin respect it as much unless he got a glass chin after his past 3 fights like chandler always had I doubt Charles can get him down. We’re all just waiting for Justin vs Dustin 2 since we all know that’s who the best LW in the world is not beating a glass chin who’s best win is a washed up Benson Henderson.

Very true . Are we really gonna pretend the Oliveira that rag dolled Tony and withstood an recovered from a huge bomb by jacked Chandler can't take down Dustin or take his punches ? Lol come on boys what the fuck we doin here

The big mystery for this fight is Chuck's takedowns

Anyone that understands what he's watching knows that Oliviera's striking has improved quite a bit
Anyone that understands what he's watching knows that Dustin's defense has improved quite a bit

The mystery is how good his TDs have gotten is all. We know they looked good against Tony. So did Dariush's. So with that we're asking: are they both top level TD artists or is Tony declining? Decent evidence to show that Tony is declining. So it gets murky.

Anyway, yeah. After the fight we'll certainly know. I think from my point about Dustin's defense standing above... if Charles can't get it down it'll be a long (or short) night for him.

true, I keep thinking about Felder crushing Charles with elbows all those years ago. I don't think it'd be a blow out, but I'm leaning Dustin as well
