Hey, I'm a 16 year old kid and I was wondering if it would be possible to gain around 10-15 kilograms within a set period of time, around January next time. I weight in at 65 kilograms - right on the borderline of my weight division in Kickboxing. The weight division system is pretty shit, the next weight catagory is 75 kilograms and I know I'm not going to be able to stay in the 65 kilo division for much longer. Is it possible to gain around 10 kilograms from now till January 07 say just by sticking to a strict weight regime? Sorry if this annoys you guys with asking some dumb questions but I'm just curious and I know you guys know what you are talking about, so please don't flame. Any feedback would be much appreciated, cheers.

P.S I'm not sure if this is the right forum - so if it is, sorry in advanced.

I think your goal is attainable, but repost this in the Strength and Power forum.

Cheers buddy, should I wait till a mod moves this thread or should I just repost in S&P?

You can PM Urban or King Kabuki. They'll move it for you.

Well, I think his question is appropriate to both forums, really. He needs a good lifting routine if he doesn't just want to put on fat, but he should also have a good eating plan.

I've gained 20lbs in 4 months with about 1% bodyfat.. just to show.. it can be done.. Diet Diet Diet.. is the important part..

I hope you mean you've gained 1% body fat and not that you are 1% body fat. Otherwise, I don't believe you.

Only time i'll be 1% bodyfat is when I've been on my deathbed for about 6 months.

yeah, I gained 1% from 15 to 16%.

Thanks for the feedback guys. So all in this can be attained with a proper dieting programme and a good weight regime. If I did gain this weight though, I'd lose some speed, am I right? I'm pretty fast and I wouldn't want to lose alot of this but I really need to gain more muscle.

10kg in one year is much. I find it hard to believe that it is possible to gain that much. Dont get your hopes up expecting extraordinary results. lets say 2, maybe 3 kg lean mass in one year if you train hard and consistent and keep a good diet (maybe more if youre a noob) along with a couple of kg fat is a more realistic goal.

I disagree with Lard-Ass. You can EASILY gain 10kg in one year with consistent training, diet, and sleep. 10kg in a year is not even 0.2kg a week. With a good program and diet you can gain 0.5 kg a week with little increase in fat. That is only 20 weeks total of bulking. Now if you want to gain 10 LEAN kg's, you would bulk for 30-40 weeks and cut or maintain for 10-20 weeks, focusing on maximal strength and power exercises to build up the relative speed. Not only will you not lose any speed, but you should be much stronger and as fast or even faster than before.

You often hear about football players who bulk up 20 lbs and lower 0.10 on their 40 yd time in less than a year. You can do the same. It is definitely possible.

If that's the case - I'm screwed. I don't take anything like Creatine. Does the stuff work? Because I've been considering it for a while now.

i shot up from 155 to 205-210 in the span of roughly nine months. now, while it wasnt exactly all "lean mass", i think if my diet had been cleaner i could have gotten near that much. also, keep in mind that this was when i first began training seriously with a somewhat decent program.

If you are gaining only 2-3kg a year, while you are TRYING to gain weight, you are most likely doing many things wrong. McGuire, 10kg should be very attainable even with eating only whole foods. The only thing is you have to eat MORE. Don't be afraid of calorie dense foods, these are your friends.

First of all, gaining 10 kg in one year is something I never and none of any-one I know succeded with, the only ones who pulls that off is usually on steroids or are very very very gifted genetically (we are taking about friends that after only a year of serious training started competing at a national level in pl) ore are still in their teens still growing or a noob.

I gained about 30 kg (66lb) the first 3 years of lifting weight, but that was cause I 1) was a teen still growing 2) gained a lot of fat along with the muscle 3) a noob.

I find it hard to believe your stated figures, cause if it was that possible to gain 10 kg in a year, more people would do it, I just find it hard to believe. Maybe Im extremely bad genetically gifted or have a shitty routine...

You who claims packing on mass, how much did your lifts go up?

Na, I've not been trying to gain wait atall. I've been cutting constantly so i could stay in the division but I'm really struggling with it now and think that moving up division would be a better move. Because I know that I won't be able to cut weight anymore and I'll be one of the skrawny guys in a bigger weight division and I don't want to be outweighed by 10-7 kilo's or so.
