Non-title main events should go back to three rounds

Does Jacare-Brunson 2 need to be five rounds? What's so special about that fight beyond it being just a good fight? It's not so prestigious as to warrant five rounds. No title is on the line. No guaranteed title shot is on the line. Nothing is on the line.

Jacare-Brunson 2 is not going to be a better fight because of two extra rounds. One can argue it'll be worse. They'll understandably pace themselves more which may lead to less action.

And before you say it, Hendo-Shogun 1 and Hunt-Bigfoot 1 are all time classics. But for every one of those, there are 10 to 20 Machida-Anders five round main events.

Even if Jacare-Brunson 2 is not the best example, why should Stephens-Emmett be five rounds?

We'd see more finishes, better groundwork, less coasting, more active final rounds

Pride format was objectively superior. ffs there's near universal agreement that the 10 point must system is terrible and basic logic reveals that a 10 min round gives more opportunity to decisively beat an opponent than a 5 min round

Ricco Rodriguez lost a decision to Nog because of the judging criteria favoring attempts to finish over position, not the round format or scoring the fight as a whole

I feel that many of those fights were good precisely because they were three rounds. Extra rounds would lead to stalling and pacing. Of course, this won't be true in every single instance.
