Non-Stop (2014)

I've decided to go back and check out some of the Liam Neeson action movies that I skipped when they first came out--the only one I ever saw was Taken--and tonight I checked out Non-Stop.

Anyone else seen this movie?

I'm not sure that the plot actually makes sense in retrospect, but I have to say, I enjoyed the ride while I was in the middle of it. I thought it was a well-made, suspenseful, action-based whodunnit. The film was also well-cast and everyone did a good job. In my experience Scoot McNairy usually makes anything better.

I may need to watch it again to see how well the plot holds up upon a second viewing, but it was definitely more entertaining than The Commuter, with which it shares some striking similarities.

7/10

Watchable, forgettable, reasonably effective action / tension shlock.

Did you end up catching Scoot McNairy in Aftermath?

Did you give much thought to the plot?

In particular I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense that the text messages could be sent without detection.

That's still on the list.

Aftermath and Maggie are two of Arnold's recent films that I really need to get to ASAP.

I saw the movie a few years ago and it went in one ear and out the other. Don't recall any details offhand that were glaring plot issues, but there may well have been.

It's crazy how similar Non-Stop and The Commuter are. Both involve mass transport vehicles, both involve having to identity a passenger who is doing criminal shit, both involve the protagonist being suspected of orchestrating the crimes, and both end in an action finale. And of course both star Liam Neeson.

It is as if someone literally took the Non-Stop script and re-worked it so that Neeson is on a train instead of a plane. WTF?

I had high hopes when I saw him drinking in his car at the beginning.

Unfortunately it was more or less downhill from there.

I guess it wasn't terrible, though.

Sure beats A Walk Among the Tombstones.

That was a major league stinker, IMO

Not as good as i hoped. But still very watchable. After all. You cant wrong with Liam in a dark action thriller.

These are what has been referred to as the rainy day thriller. If you got nothing to do, pop it in and enjoy a couple of hours of fun.

I usually like any thriller where Liam Neeson is whipping someone's ass but he has to be doing some bad ass shit throughout the movie unlike the movie Unknown.

The movie doesn't have to be good. It just needs to have Liam Neeson beating people up. With that said, Non-Stop was entertaining for me.

Meh, worked for Under Siege and Die Hard.

I remember it being better than I expected (especially compared to some of Neeson's latter day actioners). I definitely didn't stop to think and pick it apart after though, that would have ruined it.

I enjoyed this movie. Saw it ages ago now, may have to re watch it thanks to this thread.

watched it a few times,id give it 6.5

Even though I'm a huge Neeson fan, this was one that when it was released I wrote off as a generic action flick and didn't see. Watched it on redbox and was really surprised how much I enjoyed. Probably also give it a 7/10.

It's also the reason I went and saw The Commuter, figuring "ehhh this looks really bland, but hey I thought the same thing about Nonstop." Unfortunately The Commuter didn't come close to replicating the fun I had with Nonstop.

That was the Liam Neeson on a plane movie? Pretty good if I remember correctly. I liked the one where he faced off with Ed Harris too.

Any film with Liam Neeson is worth the watch tbh. You know what you're going to get.

Yeah, this is pretty much my story as well. I originally just figured it probably wasn't very good and was also annoyed that Neeson was spending his time making action movies instead of doing serious dramatic work, so I skipped it.

It's more entertaining than expected for sure.

Exactly this.

I have Movie Pass so I didn't have to actually pay for my ticket to The Commuter, but if I did I would've been annoyed.

I don't know why but this shit made me legit LOL.

I think the part that gets me is, "The movie doesn't have to be good. It just needs to have Liam Neeson beating people up."

I met Liam in Hawaii 7 years ago. He towered over me. o_O
