Looks like by 2023, we’ll be seeing New Democratic leadership in the house.

Nominated for another Speaker term, Pelosi says it's her last
    The Hill
Thoughts on Pelosi’s reign as it now appears to have an expiration date? Who do you see as a good replacement for the role?

  2. We really need term limits. She will be 83 years old come on.

Term limits in Congress, nah. Forced retirement at a certain age from Congress, yea.

Edit- I’d be fine with it at 70 even. Some of these people just don’t want to let go.

After the disasters and infighting Dems had stemming from the last election, she should have stepped aside the Speaker role. AOC is vocal and willing to fight. I suspect she will at least contend for the nomination as Dem House leader in '23 assuming she doesn't have her eyes toward Senate

Under Pelosi's leadership the dems actually LOST SEATS in the House in 2020. Her winning another term as Speaker is the definition of failing upward. The democratic party is a dumpster fire.

Ha, I just added it in the last post. 70 would be fine with be. I think most people would say 65 probably cause of retirement age. I’d also want the same thing for the president as well.

People were born and achieved their doctorate and she’s still in Congress.
    That’s the problem.

Incredible, I'm 50 years younger than her and I already want to retire.

I’d say 65 anything past that your out of touch with most of the population at that point.

In 2018, she made a deal to retain the role that she would step down by the next midterms which is why this would be her last term. It’s possible had she not offered that, there would’ve been a bigger push to replace her back then. I bet those who okayed that aren’t happy now because it was from the moderate side and they took the biggest hit this last election.

  13. most older start losing there memory at certain age. Some people can still have good memory but lets be honest most elderly start losing it badly around there 60's.

that works for me. I am not trying be a dick here but 80's is way to Damn old yo be elected official.

True. I think there’s always a hard balance when considering that or term limits because you have to weigh expertise against that out of touch aspect. People can definitely see she’s out of touch with some recent events.

  15. I want to retire too....life's not fair at the moment.

True true. But macular degeneration isn't uniform in older adults. That's all I'm saying in relation to something like an age limit. Much wisdom could be lost.

Or a bunch of Strohm Thurmonds could be lost........

Imagine the idea of letting geriatrics with biologically deteriorating capacity run your country.

    65 max and you're out.

Get some fresh brains and energy into these old closets.

There is definitely a disconnect with society and the private sector evolving but you still get the same people around that long. Just the tech debate alone you see in DC feels like some of those in control don’t know what they are dealing with. There’s wisdom and intuition you garner with age but you also can begin to fall behind in other aspects.

Political animals are out of touch I'd say a decade into their careers. Same with any power broker or upper echelon celebrity.
