Helwani broke the story of "Conor-Diaz at UFC 200" on another media outlet not affiliated with UFC on Fox. They hired him to break stories for them and since UFC on Fox is just as much a UFC company as it is a Fox company, UFC controls what news gets presented. Obviously they wouldn't allow him to spill the beans before they wanted. So he did it on another outlet. That puts UFC on Fox at a disadvantage which is created by its own employee.

Thats like a sports athlete scoring against his own team. By the time UFC on Fox breaks the story, the air has already been let out of the balloon. They lose ratings, which means less money, which means that their own employee is causing them to lose money which makes things counter intuitive for them.

Neither Fox nor Helwani is at fault for this. The deicision was best for both parities. Now Helwani can continue to break stories without worrying about his employers being upset with him.

Dana breaks stories on ESPN all the time

Ariel wanted to keep his job and the UFC felt the exact opposite way that's all

Dana breaks stories on ESPN all the time
#1. Dana isn't a fox employee. If he feels the right time to break news is on another network then he is free to do so.
#2. When's the last time he's broken a story on ESPN?

He will be missed and yet another casualty of Danas ego.

This is all assuming that Helwani originally got his information from FOX as his source and chose to leak it first on his own platform (I'm presuming that he gets his insider scoops from someone else in the UFC, not FOX...but who really knows). He has always stated that MMAFIGHTING.com was his full time commitment.

1 - so the UFC/Fox partnership doesnt matter for Dana?

2 - dont know

That's what he gets for not buying Reem his iPad like he said he would.

You know what matters? Making blanket statements condemning someone, with zero proof to provide to support your claim.

Lol, if you want to google it go ahead. I know for a fact he's done it multiple times and recently. I'm very sorry that i don't have dates that Dana white was on ESPN memorized lol.

If you can't reference it happening it would be wise to avoid saying that it has happened.

Feels like they wanted to get rid of him already and just needed a reason.

announcing Aldo's injury wasn't "breaking news" as they were already well known before he went on ESPN. And announcing an injury is kind of an urgent situation that fans have to know about immediately so they can't exactly wait for a UFC on Fox airing to announce it. People make plans for these fights so they have to know whats going on asap.

I think he got fired for talking about free agency too much with the fighters.

@UFCONFOX lost the best mma reporter in @arielhelwani all bcuz he talks about the real issues in our sport of mma/UFC! and isnt a sheep

Actually this seems to have been an issue with Ariel in the past. I'm sure that there is some kind of clause in his contract that prohibits him from speaking about official company business and if not then after this issue came up I'm sure they talked with Ariel and told him it would not be acceptable in the future:

It's widely known that Dana has never been very fond of Ariel and they have had other issues in the past in my opinion more because of Dana's ego then anything else. That aside though Ariel's no angel either and I believe him to be at fault for his own actions.
