Helwani broke the story of "Conor-Diaz at UFC 200" on another media outlet not affiliated with UFC on Fox. They hired him to break stories for them and since UFC on Fox is just as much a UFC company as it is a Fox company, UFC controls what news gets presented. Obviously they wouldn't allow him to spill the beans before they wanted. So he did it on another outlet. That puts UFC on Fox at a disadvantage which is created by its own employee.
Thats like a sports athlete scoring against his own team. By the time UFC on Fox breaks the story, the air has already been let out of the balloon. They lose ratings, which means less money, which means that their own employee is causing them to lose money which makes things counter intuitive for them.
Neither Fox nor Helwani is at fault for this. The deicision was best for both parities. Now Helwani can continue to break stories without worrying about his employers being upset with him.
