No way Swanson loses to Poirier

One loss changes everyones opinion on a fighter. Once Cub losses again he will be considered overrated. MMA fans have a short memory

It's actually Poirier win against Brookins that made me see his flaws

I like him and he had a SICK fight against KZ and think he has a very bright future. Just not against Swanson

In Swanson's defence, that was over 5 years ago though.

He has definitely evolved since then

I think he's improved, but for the most part I still see him as a guy with good offense but serious defensive liabilities. I think most of his improvements have been in the areas he was already strong.

Pulver was 5 years ago, but Lamas wasn't that long ago at all. Lamas is a good grappler, but that arm triangle was actually kind of obvious and probably not something that should have caught a guy of Swanson's caliber.

There is very little doubt in my mind that Poirier can takedown or tap Swanson. The bigger concern is whether he can survive long enough.

I think Poirier believes in his own hype also. Just because Poirier has subbed some guys who walked in to submissions doesnt make him some BJJ ace!

and just because swanson has knocked out some tomato cans doesnt mean hes a good striker!

You act as though Swanson doesn't have 5 losses on his record. 3 of which are by sub which happen to be Poirier's specialty...

Siver wouldve won
Now this fight is much closer but I think Poirier will pull out a hard fought dec
this is 3 rounds right ?

Should be a great fight, but yeah, you've gotta give a big edge to Swanson.

THis guy gets it!

ok it's a given then. Im I sure I saw a similar comment a few months ago..

"Matt Brown has 9 sub losses , 3 of which were guillotines which ihappens to be Swick's specialty...Swick wins easily"!!!

I like the diamond, but I'm gonna go with Cub on this one.

Me think he keeps it standing the majority of the time, escape any sticky situations on the ground, and takes a decision. War Swanson!

btw this is no gimme fight for either fighter. It could go either way.

Except getting taken down and pounded or submitted by the superior grappler, yeah, absolutely no way he could lose!

DIAMOND via the kids got heart. go DIAMOND!

Swick was never a "Submission Specialist" nor was he ever a high level grappler. As you can see from evidence in their fight, Brown was actually the better grappler despite his 9 losses via sub.

People need to relax on Swanson. Just because he had a few nice KO's does not mean he's unbeatable. His record obviously shows otherwise.

To be fair, Swick disappeared for a few years because of a debilitating illness and came back as Skeletor. He was able to get past DeMarcus but a durable guy like Brown was able to bully him easily.

That was not the Mike Swick that was rolling out Swickatines years ago. Not a great comparison for this fight.

Cub got subbed about a year ago by Lamas and Dustin wins most of his fights - his last 3 wins specifically - by submission. It's an interesting thing to note. Not that Cub is some free tap or anything absurd, its just something that will absolutely come up in a fight with Poirier. The guy has slick submissions.

I give Cub the edge, here is a guy who seems to have hit his stride. Dustin is most definitely a dangerous fight for him, and both guys finish fights.
