JDS reflects on loss. Speaking with Brazil's SporTV, Junior dos Santos admitted to using the "wrong strategy" in his loss to Cain Velasquez, worrying too much about takedowns, not protecting himself properly, and not taking advantage of his jiu-jitsu. Dos Santos also said of a rubber match: "I want now, soon."

I was a huge JDS fan and I was rooting for him against CV at 155. However, throughout the course of the fight I was wondering where the heck is that so called BJJ black belt everyone keeps touting he has from the Nogs. Constantly, it's been said that he had been training in BJJ before he even got into striking in 2006.

I said it the day after his beating under the hands of CV that JDS needs to move the out of his current gym and go someplace where he can be thought to be an all around fighter with 'a strategy'. Many will say he has great coaches. But, sometimes it's not about what they've done for you but rather what more can they do.

JDS should really take this experience much like GSP did with Serra. He needs to make a change. Primarily because it wasn't like him losing to CV was even that close. It was a completely humiliation. So, he needs to take at least a year to regroup. Otherwise, given the outcome of 155 the same fate awaits him in the rubber match. He's kidding himself if he thinks an immediate rematch is in the cards.

he wont get one against cain for a long time
because when Alistar meets Big Foot in the cage it will be a devestating finish from the man no, the God Overeem via right hook from hell that will catapault him to his rightful title that he has earned over a decade of greatness.

I love JDS but no. I'm sick of the Ultimate Rematch Championship.
JDS needs 2 or 3 fights to rebuild, one against a wrestler, Cormier or Barnett perhaps, Bigfoot and perhaps Werdum before a fight against Cain again.

Let them both get some real steam up, Give Cain something to fear in fighting him again and then let them fight. Cain vs JDS III could be the biggest fight in HW MMA history if it's at the right time, and ASAP is not the time for that.

Yeah I agree. JDS is my favorite active heavyweight, but he needs to build a good streak up before challenging for the title again. Maybe the winner of Hunt and Struve, Werdum, and perhaps even Barnett if he comes to the UFC

I would like to see him have a fight or two before he gets another shot. It is not like this was a close or controversial fight.

During the fight all I was thinking was, damn, I can't wait to see these two fight again some day.

Y'all are right, it's probably not best to simply turn around and schedule it again for their next fight. But I wouldn't hate that move. They won't do it though. As soon as Reem can win a fight and not piss hot, he's getting a title shot.

I dont think anyone is seriously considering the prospect of an instant rematch, probably not even Junior himself. JDS Cain III could be huge, UFC shouldn't blow their wad by arranging it too soon.

I agree, let's wait this bitch out but honestly the HW division still lacks serious contenders. Even the guys who are next in line have huge question marks over their head.

Overeem-He LOOKS the part, but barely scraping a win against Werdum and beating a half-dead Brock Lesnar doesn't make me warm inside. Honestly his entire HW run has been just as bland as his LHW run, it's so glossed over due to how he looks, the irony is Lesnar has had almost the same amount of HW fights and Lesnar's resume is actually prettier lol.

Bigfoot Silva-Is the UFC really going to give this guy a title shot after he was murdered by Cormier and Cain V, then won his Browne fight after Browne injured himself? If he beats Overeem, the UFC will really have to think about what's next for Cain V because I don't think enough time has passed to go "Yeah Silva's a different dude".

DW said if Reem beats Silva he's next in line, but we know how DW is when it comes to promising title shots, just ask the last 754 LHW's who were promised title shots or that their fight was a #1 cont bout....

Werdum is a top contender as well, and is now 1-1 against Overeem.

you can't seriously think that loss to Werdum back in 2006 means ANYTHING today do you?

Cain got a rematch after one decent win. JDS should get the same treatment. Maybe Junior/Carwin or something.

I would also like him to wait a little while for a rematch cause what happens to him if Cain beats Reem and JDS loses again to Cain? would he be able to get another shot at a champ that's beat him twice?

It means in 2006 Werdum beat Overeem.Overeem was able to get by in the rematch. Thats exactly what it means.

lol at Overeem ablet to GET BY in the rematch. Werdum didn't even look like he wanted to fight Overeem, he was content on lying on his back and praying for Overeem to gladly kneel down and grapple with him
