No proof that Stipe is a golden gloves boxing champ...

What the fuck happened here? Lol I'm guessing that's Mayorga?

"He got eliminated in the finals to Bryant Jennings - the guy who almost beat Klitscko.

Imagine Stipe won the nationals and did the Olympics instead?

In terms of accomplishments, Stipe is the most accomplished boxer in MMA right now"
- Queen B

Male? Yes.
No doubt. But not over all. That would be Holly.
She was 33-2-3 as a pro & won multiple legit World Championships. So, she's by far the most accomplished boxer in MMA. Ever.

"Everybody and their mom is golden glove.

It's seriously the biggest joke of an accolade.

Goldberg/Joe Rogan should never mention them."
- PIs Respond

Not an accurate statement my friend.
No disrespect meant, but while it's true that "everybody & their mom" often claim that they were a GG participant, that should in no way diminish the accomplishments of those that actually fought in a legitimate GG tournament. Especially in the open class rather than the sub-novice & novice. Though, that deserves some credit as well.

Probably some local tourney in Cleveland OH that rips off the Golden Gloves name.

Ah, so Cleveland district champion. Means jack s really. Oh well at least Cleveland is not Detroit.

Uh you try winnning a boxing championship for a city as big as Cleveland. It's not like he won in the Cornfields of Idaho.

Like I said, he's got better hands... Werdum is a beast, but Miocic is no joke. Happy for Stipe, a bit gutted for Werdum, but it's a fight and someone has to lose.

He's not the UFC Heavyweight Champion or anything who just KO'ed a heavyweight legend or anything. His hands are shit.

Outside of a high school or college sports association, paying for a membership fee is how most Olympic based sports operate in the USA. Need to purchase an individual membership or join through a USA [insert sport] sanctioned club.
I've grown up with a bunch of people who were involved in golden gloves. Some people took it seriously and trained/competited year round. Some people bought the membership, trained for a week, quit but still got years after still said they were a golden glove boxer.

I did a search and I could not find any evidence that Stipe is a golden gloves boxing champ or even competed in golden gloves at all. I believe they have said the same thing about Conor being a boxing champ as well and their was also no proof at all of that.

We can find evidence of Werdum BJJ skill in competition and its documented.
We have evidence of Overeem K1 and BJJ skill in competition and its documented.
We have evidence of Hunt and his K1 skill in competition and its documented.

Does anybody have any source? Something tells me that it didn't happen.
Give it up dude. You were wrong and still are. Stipe is the best heavyweight on the planet

Yeah well stipe didn't just sign up. He won and was flown out of Cleveland to continue competing in it after he became the champion there. Soooo stop shitting on this completely legit part of his resume

I wasn't. I can tell by watching Stipe box that he knows how to box. I was making a general comment about Golden Gloves.

your boy Werdum just got golden gloved up in his face.

MMA is still the wild west where you can just claim things, and it can't be disproven, especially at a regional level. Boxing doesn't tout small shit like that, they tout amateur records, which even still are a little rough to prove, but typically they'll tout olympic medals, which is absolutely able to be proven

Pitfighting, trapfighting and SAFTA are still real to me damn it.

He's not even the most accomplished in boxing white guy at HW. Sergei Khartianov boxed Robert Helenius, who has done more as a pro than Jennings. Also competed at the Asian games. Stipe never competed internationally.

You got your proof lad. He bitch-slapped the champion into a faceplant.

#Hands

Does it really matter, Stephan Bonnar has golden gloves and his striking isn't exactly good.

golden gloves is an almost meaningless term now

clay collard and brendan schlub are both golden gloves champs

all i know is that stipe's boxing is crisp and some of the best in mma
Statewide I'd agree, but being the Golden gloves national champion for your weight class is a pretty big deal.
