Taking people down is what Kevin Randleman does. You say that like he's not a hyper explosive wrestler. Kevin Randlemen sucks at submissions, not at taking people down.

Yeah...Courture and Tito are great wrestlers but not very fast or explosive. Thinking Shogun is going to just go down is as naive as thinking Randy Courture and Tito would toss around Anderson Silva because he also isn't a wrestler and has gotten taken down. Speed and power matters a lot in MMA.

Also, you're talking like Shogun hasn't obliterated people who have beaten Chuck by a large margin.


You're basically saying Chuck is better because he is better at stopping takedowns. As if there aren't any other aspects in MMA that matter. You talk about his reach, yet Chuck is worse at landing shots than Shogun because Shogun is faster, more unpredictable, has more weapons, and is just better. Very clearly better.

Shogun is someone fast enough that he could get the better of Lyoto Machida (essentially twice). You think Tito Ortiz is going to just waltz him down like that is silly. Even before Machida used his wrestling against Tito, Tito was too slow to do anything to Machida.

I'm comparing ability of both to defend themselves against wrestlers. Shogun take down defense was always trash, this took a while to appear because the elite of modern wrestlers were in the UFC and he was bacically facing jiu-jitsu guys who couldn't take down a fly or strikers. When he faced a good wreslter like Coleman he was thrown to the ground brutally and broke his arm.
