NO CUP!!! protect your balls!!! What grappling sports dont wear groin protection??

Its amazing that ANYONE will engage in any athletic activity without groin protection!!!

I moved recently and the only place i could find to roll was a traditional BJJ club...GI and all

I was AMAZED when i found out THEY weren't wearing cups!!

spun into a knee bar and my guy was totally worried about his balls not his leg...LOL

I have recently started another MMA club and am having a hard time getting people to wear their athletic cups!!!

One of the worst things people do after they get hit a few times is reach both hands down to save their balls while those of us that train 100% of the time in a cup can stand firm knowing our boys are well protected and concentrate on blocking that kick properly!!!

dude, i wear my cup while im driving to the gym, they are not that uncomfortable...just have to get used to em...its freaking worth it!!!

 
A lot of major BJJ tournaments won't allow you to wear cups.

I've done BJJ for a decade and a half and have never worn a cup.

I don't have a problem with anyone that does but usually I notice people that don't wear them tend to get better at protecting themselves than people that do wear them. I agree it sounds crazy from the outside looking in but in BJJ I rarely see anyone getting hit in the balls with anything. I see it a handful of times a year and I train most days of the week.

Ditto. I've grappled for 12 years and never wore a cup. In that time I've taken maybe 2 or 3 accidental nutshots that caused me to sit out a round but nothing as bad as a full force punch or kick, which I unfortunately have also experienced. Striking sports have it right requiring a cup but it should be optional for grappling IMO.
 
I guess if you are going to fight mma, then it would make sense to wear one but otherwise for only grappling, there is no need.
 
not gonna lie lol i never liked wearing cups prob cause the cheap ones i got really sucked and felt horrible but when i dont use them i cant do closed guard armlocks and i have a pretty good armlock i use to really hunt for i need a new good cup tbh shock doctors suck

A friend I wrestled with told me his brother had taken a blast double in HS that ruptured a testicle, requiring surgery and a prosthetic silicone nut. That sounds horrendous but must have been a freak accident and can’t say I’ve ever seen or experienced anything like that.

The armbar fulcrum habit is real though. I’ve been on the receiving end and it’s a different angle and more effective than an armbar without cup.

and did vale tudo "soccer kick" MMA in my old club and If you were CRAZY enough to get on the mat W/O groin protection you would develop dangerous habits like pushing both your hands towards your groin whenever somebody threw legkicks or went in for an aggressive spinning knee bar

1/2th guys I roll BJJ with freak out when I Drive my knee through their guard going for a pass or submission...probably cuz they're protecting their balls lol

you will develop fatal flaws if you roll without a cup

I wonder what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu insurance companies think of this practice?
 
Don't be a pussy. Testicles build strength over time just like any other body part. Start with a bucket of sand and work your way up to rocks. I rub CBD and Acai on my ballsack after every training session.

Bounced both of them off a motorcycle tank attached to a motorcycle bouncin off the back of a pickup bout ten years ago. Creased the tank, boys stayed intact. Second worst part of the ordeal was my nutsack swellin up so big that I think it stretched out a bit and I'm probably a decadeish from havin to worry about not sitting on them. Worst part's been listening to all the namby pamby crybabies off having a conniption whenever one of their berries gets a tap.

Plus like, you don't wanna be that fella drilling back attacks givin dudes purple tramp stamps from grindin into them like it's middle school sleepover at single winemom's house. Everybody knows that the secret to good back control is proper shaft-to-back contact, and that begins with proper shaft-to-back placement.
 
Just pull your balls in and you would not need a cup. This is a simple technique you should learn if you have not done that yet.

At the followup with the Urologist I was encouraged to use "multiple" forms of birth control. high count and motility. yeah. bales of reefer and a lifetime of contact sports and i'm still bustin loads like they were japanese trains full of Michael Phelps clones.

Ironically, the worst testicular injury I've heard of was with a guy who was wearing a cup. Let's just say there was an equipment malfunction and he got a full shot (knee to the groin) with the edge of the cup sandwiching the berries. Poor guy...

On the flip side, my worst injury was taking a direct uchi mata shot by Jimmy Pedro and I've still got to father kids!
 
Ironically, the worst testicular injury I've heard of was with a guy who was wearing a cup.

Only time I've ever injured my junk training was as a white belt while wearing a cup. A guy tried a heavy knee slice, starting on the far side of my hip and grinding across the center line with his full body weight sliding the edge of the cup across my boys. I tapped to that shit with a quickness but still had trouble sitting and walking the next day.

Didn't wear a cup training for 9 years after that, no problems.
 
Have been manhandled by Judo Olympic alternates without injury but only full strength nutshot was from random soccer mom at work. Was in the office building gym hitting heavy bag during lunch break when soccer mom walks in and asks if I can hold focus mitts for her. Says she has a brown belt in Tiger Schulmann women's self defense. Erm... OK.

So I hold the mitts and start calling out boxing combos: 1-2-3! 1-1-3! She's doing OK so I go 1-2-3-4! and I'm expecting a right hook but apparently 4 in Tiger Schulmann women's self defense is punt for field goal. So I catch full strength shin to the nards and I'm rolling around on the floor for about 5 minutes. When I finally stumble to my feet she just goes, "Um... now you won’t want to hold pads for me again, will you?"

Moral of the story: wear a cup if you ever hold pads for a Tiger Schulmann soccer mom.

I've heard of cases of a cut occurring do to fracture but I think that's because some jackass was stupid enough to run his junk armor thru the dryer

Either way there's a thousand ways to seriously injure your boys in the Combat Sports
