Who is better in the Sci Fi Genre: Japanese or Muricans? I am including all the different avenues for the genre like anime, books, TV shows, Movies, comics. Is there any other culture out there that deserves mention for advancing and creating works of Science fiction in any of its forms?

The Muricans put out lots of books, Movies, and TV shows. Well some of the TV shows and movies are just trash, but there is quite a few gems out there. The japanese put out lots of Anime and those are probably light years ahead of any live action movie simply because it is a cartoon so you can depict just about anything.

Actually what is the best form for Science Fiction? Is it animation, books (no pictures), comics?

so basically you don't like America, and you like cartoons

best form is books. really not that familiar with Japanese sci fi novels.

I did not say that. I have seen and read more Murican science fictions works than I have of Japan. I just know that Japan has lots and lots of anime, and many of those are in the Science fiction Genre, and I hear that some are groundbreaking. I have only seen a handful of japanese science fiction works.

Are there any other cultures that should be in the race?

I am not familiar with any Japanese sci-fi other than Godzilla, so I guess Murica takes this.

Books and movies: USA--it's hard to beat Hollywood budget.
Other media: Japan--they know how to draw cool-looking giant robots.

Anime has some ridiculously good sci-fi movies and series. People just overlook them because of the medium, which they automatically ignore.

i wanted to get into anime but i find that the overly dramatic way they act puts me off, maybe i havent seen that many, i tried watching Bleach and Attack on Titan

This. Might as well try to watch a mexican novela.

That was your first mistake. To watch two piece of shit series that are targeted towards pre teens.

Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Princess Mononoke, Ninja Scroll, Monster, & Macross Plus doesn't have any of that over dramatic over the top shitty acting where the characters are constantly muttering and shouting like something went up their ass.

Simply put, I would steer away from almost every anime made past 1999.
