pay attention to the details..

And some of you guys think wrestling is not technical.. :P

The guy that makes these videos is the coach of my college. He used to be the coach of a top 5 team nationally and I think 15 straight state champs in VA at the high school level. Very good technician, very good. I never lost to anyone from their team. =)

I tell you what, give him one year with Telles to wrok on techniques to corss over to sub grappling and Jits and turtle would probably be the PREFFRERD methond of defense in grappling

You go to ODU? I think the high school he used to coach at was Great Bridge, wasn't it?

the far side roll I use so well in bjj and no gi isnt in there...hahaha, its probably too simple it would never work in that level of wrestling, but I get it on just about anyone that has never wrestled before no matter the belt. Actually, every time I dont get it on someone when I try, I ask them if they wrestled before, and they always say yes. Its my money move from turtle and it winds me up in side control.

They left out quite a few of the simple escapes, I think this is designed for wrestlers who have at least some knowledge of the bottom position.

There were plenty of situations where the top wrestler was on the side but it didnt show moves like the sit out and turn in to get theman to one side and off your back.
Switch was left out, fat mans roll(far side) crab out and most of all the standup.

I'll disagree with this move not working at I think you were trying to say "high level" wrestling. This move is best done with the correct pressure, it's not something that you just do because if you just do it that's when it doesn't work. I've done the granby at nationals and at states, against the better wrestlers I usually escape or get the reversal, but I've gotten 5 points many many times. I have also seen this done successfully in Division I matches.

For pure grappling I think if done properly (strategy and defending the back mount) that this position can be very good.

its moblie and you can escape and reverse. I think it CAN be good for mma too if you get taken down. Of course you dont want to be on all 4's if the other guy is standing....

Oh yes, I def agree that this can work if someone has your back in MMA because MMA has a different philosophy than folkstyle wrestling. So with or without pressure by your opponent this should work in MMA.

Also, I can't find a vid but if someone has your back standing you can do something called a standing granby. Very effective move in wrestling it def takes people by surprise.
