Imagine if Sterling has more than 5 title defences as the UFC Bantamweight World Champion.
 
Nicco beat two former undefeated Invicta champs in the run up to her title fight, really you couldn't expect more from a champ in an entirely new division. Of course the UFC couldn't wait to replace their surprise champion with Valentina - they certainly didn't extend her the same latitude in recovering from injury granted to other belt holders.

Heaven knows what has happened to her since, she didn't even appear to have tried to make weight for this weekend's fight. It's an American tragedy in the making.

She looked impressive on the show. The problem came when Valentina decided to join the division. She wanted no part of Valentina and was never the same. In fairness, Valentina could beat everyone who was on that show on the same night. Nicco is still a hero to her people. Her people are unfortunately overeaters.
 
The only one who has a claim to being a worse champ is Germain De Randamie. Obviously GDR is a much better fighter than Montano, but she also has the distinction of giving up her belt because she refused to fight the #1 contender and only real challenge to her.

There have been many boxers over the years who have vacated titles because they didn't want to fight their mandatories - usually because there was a bigger money fight to be made elsewhere. But it's a lot different in the UFC where there's only one belt. She willingly gave up any right to call herself a champion because she was scared of Cyborg.
 
for a while it was a toss up between gdr and nicco... but like people are saying, flopjo blew both of them out of the water. it's not even funny.

Should have been 3-0.
The timing favored Lesnar, randy came back when 2 contenders just fight for the interim belt and Lesnar was a huge name.

I mean that's what happens when you pull a division out of shit. It's like making a 180lb weight class and watching one women who is huge and cuts to it beat 140lb women who want to eat fast food so they fight up in weight. The division is still shit so it makes sense that they had low expectations. Imagine creating a tournament for a new division where the winner will be champ and the best you can do is Nico Montano.
