This is an absolute shit take but Lewis doesn’t have the chin required to brawl with him
nether does Gane. Now he has enough wrestling under his belt to have above average TDD, the only option is to stand toe to toe with him and either be slick enough to outpost him(heavy doubt) or force him to respect you and have a chin good enough to make him pay for everything he throws.

Not MMA but until someone replicates the Holyfield formula, Mr.Ngannou won’t be beaten again. With HW looking so terrible, it won’t be popular but trying to outpoint him will only get him walked down and KO’d. <CanYouSeeMeNow>

Or someone with enough striking and wrestling skills to avoid getting hit too cleanly by his punches and put him on his back, like Stipe did in the first match. Or when he faces someone with equivalent power and the match turns into a staring contest. Until he proves he can beat Lewis there's always that question about big Frank

Unsure why you categorically dismiss the notion that Gane would be able to out point him whilst avoiding the KO. I guess the Lewis fight will prove pretty much if he is capable or not.

Theres a frenchman named Ciryl Gane who is going to knock Francis unconscious the next time Ngannou steps into the octagon.

Francis does not have the cardio necessary to fight with Ciryl Gane for three rounds, let alone five rounds. When he gasses, as he did against Stipe the first time (and almost did the second time), Gane will be there to mercifully put him out.

New HW champion incoming.

3 of Gane's last 4 fights have gone to a decision (his lone KO was against a chinless, shot JDS). What makes you think he can KO a guy with an iron chin who has never been finished?

Gane will out point him. Either for 5 rounds, or until he gets knocked out. Could go either way IMO.

Lewis did it once. He could do it again once he disposes of Gane.

Well, instead of cherrypicking fights, we can instead look at his six UFC fights; half of which he finished his opponent in.

The three opponents he did not finish were Tanner Boser, Jairzinho, and Alexander Volkov.

Gane had only four MMA fights to his name when he fought Tanner Boser; who he was a minute or so away from finishing due to accumulated damage when time ran out. The third round of this fight was a 10-8 on every judges scorecard because Boser was about to be finished. Boser also both moves and has significantly better cardio than Francis Ngannou.

Jairzinho is a very heavy hitter, with good cardio, that was refusing to engage with Gane. His significant strikes were in the single digits for three of the five rounds. He also has power that carries to the fifth round as we saw against Overeem. Gane was piecing Jairzinho up at range, so there was neither opportunity nor value in finishing the fight which was a shutout from start to finish. Also, when Gane did enter to try to take Jairzinho down and submit him, he was getting elbowed in the back of the head; so he wisely stopped trying.

Alexander Volkov has been knocked out twice in his forty-two fight career, it takes special power that Gane does not possess to finish him, as he is not a fighter who can be KOd due to fatigue like Francis Ngannou.

Francis landed two significant strikes in the last three rounds of his first fight with Stipe. He had absolutely no energy and any fresh fighter would have knocked him out; the problem was Stipe was not only not fresh but nearly as exasperated as Ngannou. While Stipe may have been the slightly fresher fighter and thus why he won, he was completely fatigued and incapable of finishing anyone.

A fighter like Gane whose output only increases as the fight goes on will have absolutely no problem finishing a fatigued fighter.

Gane has no UFC KOs except for a shot JDS. He clearly lacks power.

I can see Francis getting ko by a heavy hitter when he comes in swinging wildly.

In b4 Gane 50-45’s him to become champion.

Both Lewis and Francis are heavy hitters like the top heavy hitters in boxing...Sonny Liston, Earnie Shaver, and George foreman.

When you hit as hard as them you better be moving out of the way with your chin because either way its a home run: its a home run over the fence or out of the ball park home run, but either way, your getting KO'd.

When I think of Holyfields formula I think of, being a great technical boxer with a good strategy plan and once he gases his opponent he goes for a flurry to KO or finish him. It came with a risk of gassing himself out and it was usually around round 7. Holyfield was naturally smaller and able to beat most in speed but his boxing was very technical. His chin was legendary too.

I guess your saying, be technical, gas them out, and finish them. The scary thing is it ends much quicker in MMA than in boxing. Especially heavy weights. You have to maybe take them to the ground to tire them out first..I think a Stipe type style fighters is your best bet.
