On paper this is probably the fight that has me intrigued the most as I don’t think there can be a middle ground. I think this fight will either end fast or turn into a point kickboxing match.

Reasons it can boom: Both guys pack massive power and don’t hesitate when there’s an opening.

Reason it can bust: Both guys are counterpunchers, they rarely lead the dance. Instead they sit back and wait for opponents to overextend or leave themselves open.

They both have iron chins and are relative novices on the ground with a slight advantage for Francis... I can however see Ngannou trying to hit an early strength based submission (Like a Kimura or Americana like he did against Anthony Hamilton) , but it would be a gamble because he can gas attempting to grapple if it doesn’t work...

Power: Ngannou

Accuracy: Jairzinho

Grappling: Slight edge Ngannou

Cardio: Jairzinho

How do you guys think it plays out?

If its a stinker brock will let us know usa_today_10927476.jpg

Yea, potential for both for sure, looking at their past fights. But I lean towards boom, a nuclear blast.

Roz's head over here looking like one of those babies that slept too much on the back of their head.

Jairzinho is a counterpuncher but he is not the type that waits his opponent to rush into his fists like Ngannou or Lewis, he will be spamming jabs and constantly moving forward on Ngannou.

It already happened with Francis and Derrick Lewis.

So pumped for this fight. Zhino has this tyson-esque quality about him and hes not intimidated by Franny. Ngannou a decent favorite...and " probably " rightfully so. I'm staying away from betting fight but theres definitely value in zhino if u believe.
Ngannou looks by this guy and I can see a highlite upset on hands.
- Just hoping to see 2 talented stand up heavies deliver the goods- good chance

If Francis is smart, he can go for the TD and gnp.

Bigi Boy by K-1 experience.

Will make Ngannou look like an amateur.

See Silva vs Leben.

someone will get KO'ed. Ngannou isn't hesitating anymore. If he gets a big time KO, hes in line to fight Stipe.

I think Jairzinho is over rated, he was losing 99% of the Overeem fight, and granted the vet here has experience beyond belief but we didn't see a new skool step up in quality like we have with Francis against most of his more recent experienced opponents..
I expect a round 1 finish from Ngannou and pretty comfortably, can't see Jarizinho holding back all this technical ability like folk are suggesting, we would have seen it already imo.

I hope so. I also hope Ngannou has realized how being too hesitant is bad for his reputation.

I dont think Ngannou will ever be in a boring fight again. He knows.

Going with Rozenstruik here. He's raw and green and still knocking bigger dudes out.
Ngannou has the grappling advantage for sure, but Bigi Boy will find that chin.
Also, I put money on it.

Agreed. If the Struik did not place that devastating last minute blow on Overeem, he would be an anonymous 13th ranked heavyweight, like De Castro. On the other hand, thats what makes the heavyweight division interesting. Even Ngannou can get KOd with a single big blow.

Great thread.

I am leaning towards Rozenstruik because of his extensive kickboxing experience, but I am very concerned that it turns into a staring contest.

I hope I am wrong, and it is a highlight reel knockout. Either guy winning is fine with me.

It is possible of course, and one thing Jairzinho does have is a really powerful and quick counter early on.

I think Francis is slightly too cautious to do anything stupid early on though and in an engagement that does potentially happen early I favour Francis's quickness and power slightly.. looking past the first 2 minutes or so i still think his shots that aren't clean still appear to have KO ability in a bones made of iron Yoel Romero kind of way..

So basically I favour Francis for the quick KO and I favour Francis for the long distance KO.. Only chance I see Struik having is a counter if Ngannou naively swings early on before feeling him out.

This will be a snoozer. Francis won’t engage someone with fighting ending power. He froze up against Lewis sloppy punching. I expect the same in this fight. If it’s a slugfest, it’s will be thanks to Rozie.

Really hope I’m wrong. This fight has potential to be fireworks.
