The comparison is uncanny.. 2 impressive short KO wins, no cardio, too much muscle, africans
etc. At least Sokodjou had some Judo background

Yeah but Sokodjou KO'd 2 legit perennial top 5 guys in just his 4th and 5th fight respectively.

Minowaman vs Ngannou next

See if Ngannou can capture the Super Hulk title that Minowaman won after knocking his fellow Cameroonie the fuck out.

Sokodjou was much more skilled, Ngannou skill wise is closer to Mike Perry (although Perry is still more skilled) that's what it would look like if Mike got a title shot at his current skill level if the WW division was as weak as HW.

Sokodjou beat Arona and lil nog, while Francis has only beaten Overeem. Surely you can't count the Arlovski win considering how shot he is

Sokoudjou didn't have too much muscle. He was actually a small 205er, especially by today's standards.

Ngannou is legit an incredible athlete for MMA.

As much as you don't like it Ngannou isnt going to just fade away. He's going to get better and fight for the belt again.

More like Houston Alexander’s big brother. Someone will come along and sleep him soon enough.

Soko was always thick, he was just short for his division.

He’s not some 24 year old prospect that has time to learn a little wrestling and earn his Bjj purple belt. His game is wild uppercuts.

More proof as to why MMA fans are the worst.

That is one obvious difference, whilst you could perhaps fault Ngannou's mental game somewhat vs Stipe you can't say that he broke the way Soko did vs Machida.

On the other other hand though Soko did I think show more skill, a bit cleaner standing and he did have good takedown defence(that one legged hop vs Arona is arguably the bets single bit of takedown defence ever), he was just rubbish if you actually got him down ala Rumble.

The key issue is though I think lighting struck twice in a row for both these guys, not to say Ngannou isn't going to stay legit but based on the Stipe fight I don't think the fast KO's vs Arlovski and Reem are going to be standard for his career. I don't blame people for getting rather drawn into the hype due to that, sometimes what we see just doesn't reflect someones true ability.

The talk about Ngannou having bad cardio is too early. He didn't cardio gas. It was something else. It was like Shane Carwin against Brock. Carwin never had good cardio but we've seen him go 5 rounds. He couldn't even lift his arms and could barely walk in round 2 there. That wasn't cardio that gassed him against Brock.

Sokoudjou actually had a better record, ngannou is the definition of a hypejob.
