It's well known by people who know MMA that Ngannou's original MMA coach Fernand Lopez basically single-handedly got Ngannou to be where he's at today (link below). Without him, he wouldn't be where he's at. He trained him for free, introduced him to MMA, gave him free equipment, and even organized his fights and enrolled him in English classes.

I've been hearing a lot of stories online saying once Lopez began to ask Ngannou for money after he made some good money from his UFC fights, Ngannou refused to pay him and worked with different coaches instead (vid below). Thoughts? Have you all heard this too?

Link to the discussion about him not paying his coaches per user below:

Why did you link that random article (where he's repeatedly called a boxer FFS), as if it was a source for your rumours?

If that's true that's a scumbag move. I like Francis so hope it's not true

Here you go https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...of-relationship-with-francis-ngannou.4144644/

Cliffs (from post #12 in that thread, not from me):

Says Francis wanted to KO Stipe in the 5th
Says Francis didn't feel good before fight with Overeem
Says Francis is addicted to cam models
Says he wants to rematch Rozenstruik
Says Francis is would spend too much time on Sherdog and that was the main factor in their falling out

Also says Francis smelled like booze and cigarettes before most training sessions

I mean look at him in this old photo

wearing a manpurse, wrist watch, bracelet, fairly well dressed

looks like he ran some type of shit back in Africa

safe to say he's a hustler of sorts

Fernand took him from the street, surely if something happened it must be substantial otherwise Francis is just a prick

Yes, I've heard about it.

It can be a bit weird of a situation, seeking restitution for services rendered after the fact.

Fernand seems like a nice guy honestly.

I agree with coach. He said that Francis didn't follow game plan against stipe. Francis got mad about him saying that in the media and fired him. Coach was confused and said "well you didn't , how that my fault " lol.

Francis needs to learn to take accountability.

Maybe Francis only worked with him because it was free. Who are this coaches other students? We wouldn't be discussing him now and nobody would know his name if it wasn't for Francis. Sometimes just being involved with someone that is successful will put you in a position to profit off of that connection. Seems like he shouldn't be burning that bridge and instead use Francis' success to promote his business.

Cyril Gane and Nassourdine Imavov in the UFC.
