Just look at his last six fights:

Cain
Blaydes
Lewis
Stipe
Overeem
Arlovski

Crazy how the UFC keeps setting him up to lose, if he wins tonight he could very well position himself for another title shot.

Well if someone hits like 90's Ford Escort he doesn't need to be afraid of anyone. Anyone...

Except of NCAP guys.

Sadly arlovski is actually an easy fight.

If you claim to be the baddest man on the planet you better be fighting the best.

Who else is there?

After getting demolished by Stipe he went straight to Lewis (powerful guy on the feet), then Curtis Blaydes (who has a style that is supposed to give Ngannou nightmares), and he got the KO in round 1.

Now he's going for Cain, lol he doesn't give a fuck.

He could have gone for JDS or Volkov which would be easier fights than Cain imo

Arlovski is chinny, likes to stand - perfect fight for Ngannou
Overeem -. same
Stipe, that's a challenge
Lewis - who the fuck is that guy? Loses all the time
Blaydes - beat him already

Setting him up to lose? Wtf?

Arlovski was being called to retire and a crazy easy fight for Ngannou at the time.

Overeem had better technique but again no chin and fought like an idiot.

Stipe was champ.

Lewis got starched by guys like Mitrione and Hunt. Should of been a easy fight again.

Blaydes he already beat.

Cain looks awful and should retire.

He was solid favourite in every fight until the Blaydes rematch. -400 against guys like Arlovski.

Whatever else they may be, they are also hard hitters who are more experienced than him.

It's not like he wasn't risking anything.

Yeahhhhhhh but HW is absurdly shallow. And he lost to two of those guys, most likely a third tonight.
i mean no disrespect to him, he has some amazing power mixed with speed, but I think so far he's the kind of fighter who looks like a world beater when he's winning and a turtle on its back when losing. So far, anyway. That said he can lay any man in the world low if he connects.

Conrad McDougal strategy. If he wins, he is a stud. If he loses, he lost to the best and could turn it around in the next fight.

they need a hero.
And they are trying hard to make Ngannou be this hero.

Like you said... "if he wins"...

That's what the UFC is counting on.

I agree with everything but this. Overeem secured a clinch and they were against the fence and the ref decided to break them up and it was immediately after the reset that Overeem got KO’d. I’m sure the plan was to clinch and let Francis gas out a little but the ref was very quick to break it up and did Overeem no favors in doing so.

Reminds me of JDS start to his career.

The clinch was smart but the way he was striking was completely idiotic. Rather than using technique to slowly pick Ngannou apart, countering him and working off a jab like Stipe later did he just started winging step in overhands leaving himself wide open to be countered in the pocket.
