With the UFC adding new weight classes, and opening up to new markets Dana has mentioned a 115lb. class. I understand this may be appealing to new Asian markets but I would much rather see a Cruiser weight division at 230lb. I've wanted this for a long time because there are a lot of fighters whose natural weight is too big for 205 but undersized to fight guys at 265. 20lbs is the greatest jump in weight until you get to 205then it jumps 60! The HW division is arguably the most popular weight class already, why not add it? IMO, it would be a great addition if they want to continue to add new classes. So, what would you rather see 115lb or 230lb and why?

The problem with a 230 lbs division is that not enough talent would be left in the 265 lbs division.

I would also like to see a 230 lbs division but I know that the HW division is to shallow to be cut in half right now.

If I had to pick one, 115lb. Heavyweight is too thin to have a 230 class, many of the ranked heavyweights could make 230, leaving a sparse talent pool at the top.

Super heavyweight. Would be great imo 265+

If MMA were to split the heavyweights it would probably be at 235. Ammy and lower level pros already do a 235 heavyweight/catchweight all the time, although they usually just call it a heavyweight fight and put 235 on the contracts.

Now that being said, to be anything other than a catchweight, this would have to run through the boxing commission and not just a promoter

I think there would be more guys moving up from LHW creating a very competitive class and creating some interesting super fights in the future.

I think the best division to add would be a women's flyweight

Cruiserweight would defo b more popular than a 115 division. But i dont think thers enough top level big guys to fill 2 heavy weightclasses

Super heavyweight. Would be great imo 265+

Have you ever seen a super heavyweight fight? The guys all look like Roy Nelson & they gas out after the 1st rnd. Watch an episode of "the Biggest Loser" if you like to see fat people out of breath.

I think 115 is ok, but it's much too soon. Maybe in a few years. I don't like the idea of 230 though

Skip both. There are to many thin weight divisions as it is, adding another would be folly.

Totally agree, very few people at super heavyweight are something else than a heavyweight out of shape.....possibly Giant Silva but well......you know.

A 235/230 division would probably end up containing basically the same guys as HW with the exception that they would have to cut weight. So the same matchups but with worse cardio. Not a good idea imo.

Im personally not that excited about 115 either (damn I sound pessimistic today!) But maybe it would bring alot of exciting asian fighters so maybe it could be nice. Ill guess well se about that.

I'd rather see 230lbs or 235lbs and then make heavyweight 236lbs-unlimited.

I don't mind a 115lbs, if they have enough talent. However, I feel UFC should sign more talent and build up 125lbs before they create a 115lbs Division.

Let's see if even a majority of hardcore fans can get into the 125 pound class before adding something like 115.

Dana and co. ran the UFC with the midas touch for a while, but a lot of their decisions over the last four years are so could begin to take their toll on the company. They are diluting the UFC brand.

What an awesome thread TS.

Never ever been thought about before.

BTW who are the two baddest men in HW? JDS and Cain WHO probably could cut to LHW if they really wanted.

Now tell why the fuck we need we a class splitting the weakest division in the UFC?

Are Cain and JDS supposed to swap around the two belts?

240 lbs JDS and Cain would be cutting so little that a hamburger and a gatorade would bring them back up to fight weight. Not exactly murderous on cardio.
