I know it's not the UFC's style, but title fights don't have to take precedence. Strikeforce would have non-title fights headline over title fights all the time. Hendo vs. Fedor was main-event over the Tate vs. Coenen championship fight and that was in the Zuffa era and more than likely their decision...
