New Tony Hawk Pro Skater game coming in 2020, could be a remaster

According to a fresh leak, a new Tony Hawk games is coming in 2020. Art punk band The Death Set, who's providing songs for the new Tony Hawk Pro Skater's soundtrack, accidentally outed the game in a now-deleted Facebook post. But not before someone captured a screenshot.
It's very likely the new game will be a remaster or even a reboot for the franchise. Activision recently teased a bunch of new remasters and re-releases for 2020, and after the disastrous performance of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, the publisher may not jump right into another sequel.
"In addition, our business units will continue to tap into our portfolio of beloved IP to bring several remastered and re-imagined experiences to our players in 2020, which we will announce closer to launch," Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said in the company's most recent Q4'19 earnings call.
Tony Hawk's multi-million dollar licensing agreement with Activision has been on ice since 2018, but the two have apparently sparked up a new deal for more games.
If this is real, expect a remaster to release on current-gen consoles and PC, complete with optimizations for next-gen systems. Remember, Activision loves to re-sell nostalgia (hell, every publisher does) and the Tony Hawk franchise has absolutely massive consumer recognition.
Activision has yet to confirm anything, but we could see more announcements made around June during the big E3-timed live streams.

Nice. THPS 5 was horrible.
Tony hawk's pro skater HD wasn't bad it was just too short.

They better look for former Neversoft talent.

Tony Hawk 2-4 are some of my all time favorite. If they can bring back to that level I will be so fucking happy

If they can remaster them and keep the soundtrack id buy the shit out of it

Include a remastered Apocalypse as a bonus.

They couldn't even get a soft reboot right with THPS5, and the HD THPS releases were a mess too. When they can't seem to recreate a game engine from over two decades ago, I have little faith that this will be anything other than complete dog shit.

It kind of reminds me of how they can't get the WWE games right these days, despite having a perfect tried and true template from the N64 games to work from.

At some point you just lose all faith.

I never tried out Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. Was that video game terrible for all of the systems that had it?

Furthermore, I never purchased Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. On the internet, I read that there's no way to purchase THPS HD anymore (because it was only released as DLC).

Hopefully, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD receives a re-release. After all, it already exists but I missed out on it.

I love THPS 1, 2, 3, and 4. Also, I had a lot of fun with Underground and Underground 2 (even though everyone despises those two).

People still care about the Tony Hawk series? That's like saying a new Guitar Hero is coming out. The series was run into the ground and Skate series surpassed it as the superior skating games.

I would be more excited for a Skate or Die remake than a TH remake. We'll always have THPS2.

I think there's still an appetite for THPS, but they haven't been able to get it right since THPS4 for whatever reason. I think if they made a polished game people would flock to it again, much like they did with Mortal Kombat even after it's period of releasing nothing but pure shit. All it took was reboot done properly, and all was forgiven and it's super popular again. I think THPS could pull the same thing off if they took it seriously and released a quality product, instead of the busted ass nonsense and gimmicky bullshit they've been doing for years.

Oh don't get me wrong I don't want the series to fail. I loved the first 2 games they were classics but yes 5, and that terrible Ride game to name a couple have been hot trash.

Any series can be saved but skateboarding games are kind of niche. This isn't like DOOM (2016) resurrecting the series. A good THPS game will be good but won't be a worldbeater.

Skate is such a different game. It's like comparing NFL blitz to madden. But there is a new skate game called skate XL.

Isn't that more of an independent project? Not complaining, but it's weird why the "Skate" franchise just came and went. It was so tight, and despite it's more "sim" like qualities, they had a good arcade point system beneath it all, that brought it all together. I thought they balanced it all out really well, and it felt like an evolution from the THPS series in all the right ways.

That said, I don't care who comes back and puts in a good effort. If either franchise could return and give us a good skating experience, I'm all for it. Christ, we have "Handball" games coming out every year. Where are the skateboarding games? Best we got today is "OlliOlli", and that's just sad.

Well said mate. After playing Skate I just couldn't be bothered ever touching a THPS game now. I still play Skate 3, probably my favourite game ever. Yeah it was odd one, we should be on Skate 8 by now with millions more sold but nothing.

Skater XL and Session don't look like they've got much game beneath them, look good though.

The last couple were rough

I still can't get over that one with the "skateboard" accessory. "THPS: Ride" was it? How anyone thought that was gonna work, is beyond me. Like ordinary people were gonna be doing stationary kick flips in their living room on a hunk of plastic, or something? LOL. That is the biggest sham in recent memory. Such shameless promotion from media outlets too, who had obviously play tested it before release, and still tried blowing smoke up people's asses in previews, as if it was actually functional.

It's far worse than any shitty peripheral gimmick I can think of. Worse than the Power Glove and Kinect combined. Those at least seemed like they could have some functionality. Only thing arguably worse that I can think of, would be those "Combat Zone" things from the SNES/Genesis days, but at those things didn't have the potential to physically harm you.

Maybe make a new one that's realistic? There was a Thrasher game like that on PS1 but unfortunately it came out around the same time as Tony Hawk. It was cool how cops would randomly show up to chase you away.

I don't think they need to make it realistic, like Skate or anything. They just need to make a polished game with the mechanics everyone already loves from the THPS franchise. That's it. That's all they gotta do. Just not fuck it up. Apparently, that's too much to ask.

Yeah I don't want a sim, I'd just go out and skate in real life if I wanted what a sim brings, it's not like a car racing sim where there's a huge barrier to get into the sport in real life. The THPS series' bread and butter is being an arcade style game with combos making it like the Killer Instinct of skating games.

What is the problem with wrestling games nowadays? I've heard people mention how bad they are. Even though I never watched it on TV wrestling games were some of my favorites during the ps1 n64 era.
