Social New Mexico Militia detains 200 illegals at Gunpoint

So an armed robbery at person's home is the same as patrolling the border in your view?

Other than these 3 people were part of a militia there isnt anything in common between the burglary and the case in the OP

They investigation revealed that they were specifically attempting to obtain money and drugs to sell and fund their militia.

Forde and her accomplices gained entry to the Flores home by claiming they were officials looking for fugitives. The suspects had the expectation of finding money and drugs that could be sold to finance Forde's militia group, the "Minutemen American Defense," which patrolled Arizona's border with Mexico. When they found no drugs, the intruders took inexpensive jewelry and fatally shot 29-year-old Raul Flores, Jr., and his daughter, nine-year-old Brisenia Ylianna Flores.

Are you OK with these types of folks patrolling the US/MEX border and detaining groups of people, including families and children?

Do you trust them to conduct themselves professionally and humanely?

Once “the people” whatever the fuck this means, have 650+ course hours of law enforcement training maybe then they can be entrusted to protect others.

I think some people posting in this thread, in addition to the militia themselves, fancy themselves Batman-esque righteous vigilantes protecting the homeland. Heroes without capes, or something.

Hopkins is barred from possessing weapons because of three felony convictions. According to the FBI he was first convicted of illegal weapons possession in Michigan in 1996, and then again in Klamath County, Oregon, in 2006, along with a charge of impersonating a peace officer.

According to a police report in the Oregon case, Hopkins showed two firearms to a group of juveniles and a badge that said “special agent.”

...

The leader of an armed group that has been detaining asylum-seeking families from Central America near the Mexican border said two years ago that he was training supporters to assassinate Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and billionaire Democratic supporter George Soros, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

This guy strikes me as a 69-year old LARP'r

the whole idea of vigilante justice sounds romantic and good on an emotional level. it's why we daydream and make comic books about batman and other super heroes.

in the real world though, vigilantism is dangerous. there's no training requirement, no proof of certification on how to investigate crimes, and no accountability when it comes to the law and the constitution. so that puts innocent people at risk.

what if they decide to go after american citizens? what if they decide that the punishment should be execution without trial? i mean, the list of potentially disastrous outcomes is infinite here.

so no, you cannot allow that. the fact you think "the politicians and people in charge have failed" is not a justification to allow vigilantism. if you think that, then truthfully, you don't really know what you are talking about and your perspective on the matter is either incredibly naive or incredibly obtuse. either way, there's no valid argument that allows this type of thing to be justified on a moral or legal level.

What did he THINK was going to happen??!?!

"The leader of an armed group that had been detaining migrants in New Mexico was beaten while in jail, according to the man's lawyer and a sheriff's department. Larry Hopkins, 69, a leader of the United Constitutional Patriots, an armed group that had been stopping migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, was "jumped and beaten by fellow detainees" according to a letter sent by his lawyer on Wednesday."

I hope he gets put into ADseg because his life is at risk now.

The arrest everyone on trumped up charges. Then they throw this old bat in with gen pop so the cartel foot soldiers can jump him.

Everything about this reeks of punishment that is not deserved. They actually upheld the law.

Corrupt Uncle Sam making a statement.

When you say trumped up charges, so you think he didnt have a felony record? Or wasnt in possession of a gun.

No I dont think people that rob and murder should be trusted. I also dont think that all people in militias are robbers and murderers.

When the law can't handle the situation vigallantees come forth. Which isn't good, but it shows that the govt is clearly not capable of dealing with this border crisis .

I agree with the 1st part, but not the 2nd. The government is totally capable of dealing with it, but an actual effort needs to be put forth. Or you’ll be seeing more of this, which I agree is a bad thing.

I agree, it the govt or parts not doing what they should be doing. Which leads to instability . That has always historically led to local strongmen. Something you don't want, as the feudal system is what crops up when the central govt can't govern. I don't want this to happen and hopefully it will be resolved soon

Isolated incident. The Minutemen are a militia of peace.
Frankly, this militiaphobia will just lead to more peaceful minutemen getting radicalized.

This is another reason why in another thread I mentioned I’d have no issue with our military dealing with some of this. But it has to be more geared towards when armed escorts approach our border, not regular people crossing on their own.

Wasn’t long ago when there was a thread about an illegal falling from a high spot trying to cross and breaking his legs and people were making jokes like this about it and you -specifically- were chastising people for that. I stated if roles were reversed you guys on the left would have no issue cracking the same jokes -you said others might but you wouldn’t..

..and here we are.

That is an appropriate use. Have the military augment the BP with manpower. The BP agents do the arresting and all that, just with help. It makes more sense that challenging people to take the law into their own hands, which is nuts

No I dont think people that rob and murder should be trusted. I also dont think that all people in militias are robbers and murderers.

Unfortunately, many of these militias were founded by neo-Nazi gang members, murderers and robbers, like those mentioned already.

They also have no vetting process for inprocessing new members, because....They are an unregulated militia. With no law enforcement training or authority to detain or arrest.

So you can see the inherent problems here.

Good chance these guys fuck up and piss off a cartel and we end up finding their heads in the middle of the street.
Not smart

sissy american soldiers can't protect the border from foreign invaders, so they need these real men to do their job.
