New Jersey has been named best food state by Saveur Magazine. I never heard of this magazine. If it is not Zagat, then does it even matter.

Eventhough this is my home state, and I do feel it has decent food, I dont agree with this assessment of being best. It is mostly diners, casual chains, fast food. We have lots of ethnic cuisines because we are a diverse state, but still second to NYC in the region for that. We do get spillover from Philly and NYC, but its mostly second hand stuff. There are a handful of original restaurants, but I would not put them over other restaurants in other states like NY, PA, and CA.

It's too subjective of a topic to give anyone too much merit in this discussion.

Interesting.

I always thought New Jersey was the New Jersey of America.

It makes sense imo. It's a densely populated state with large ethnic populations. Of you can't afford a spot in Philly or NY open a spot in NJ where it is cheaper and a good amount of people have disposableincome to eat out.

Does NJ have a lot of BYOBs? That can also work in their favor.

New Jersey is ugly and they have tollbooths everywhere. But the food is awesome.

I've been telling you this for the last ten years.

Should just listen to me once in a while.

Congrats on not being rated the worst at something for a change...

This is such travesty. Everybody knows Louisiana is the best.

Jersey is bordered by 2 major cities (NY and Philly) which brings a lot of culture. We're on the coastline, so we have the seafood. Plus, it's the most crowded state (most people per sq mile). Within 1 mile of my house, there are 5 pizza places, 4 of which range between a quarter mile to half.

I live in Jersey my entire life. Manhattan literally shits on NJ when it comes to food.

what kind of fat asshole names a state 'best food place' because they have pizza and hotdogs? lol.

Went there once. Food was shit. I wasn't on the coast though, maybe it's better there.

Nah, not really but north has much better food than south Jersey. Well AC's casino buffets are not to shabby.
