International New Indonesian Bill updating penal codes seeks to criminalize Homelessness, adultry ..

The problem with such countries , the UAE being a good example , is that even though they have strict laws on the books, the authorities and society give the impression to tourists and expats that the laws aren't strictly adhered to, that the authorities turn a blind eye. So what happens is a tourist goes there and engages in what is technically illegal behavior but the tourist assumes such behavior is unofficially given a pass by the authorities. And a lot of tourists do get a pass but sometimes for whatever reason the authorities decide to come down hard on some tourists citing their laws.

That still entirely on the tourists. Its the visitors job to know the local laws so that they don't do something to land themselves in the slammer, and just because the place they are visiting says they are lenient towards visitors isn't a good excuse for willingly breaking the laws and then getting in trouble for it.

It's the fault of the place for misleading the tourists. These places sell themselves as open and liberal to attract tourists, so how can you blame the tourist who buys into the P.R.

I can blame them for being dumb enough to not look into the local laws. It's not rocket science, you travel to a foreign country the first thing you do before you go is look at the laws to make sure you don't get yourself into trouble by mistake.

This is what happens when the religious nuts get in power

Is there a similar law like that in SanDiego? Making it illegal to sleep in your car.

Just need to get a few more laws on the books so we can experience real freedom

Come on man, no one is pouring over local laws before they visit a place. They might look at what is considered a faux pax and appropriate behavior but they aren't going to look at local penal codes, assuming they even know where to find said laws. A place that markets itself as tourist friendly and especially promotes itself to Western / hip tourists like Dubai does is going to be thought of as a chill and tolerant place by tourists.

There is a law in some SoCal town that outlaws overnight parking of vehicles over a certain height and length on public roads. It was created to discourage people using a Van / Motorhome as their primary home.

The sex thing is crazy but they are right on the money for homelessness. I’m a very vocal advocate of making homelessness illegal. These people take up space, pay no tax, defecate and urinate on public property, are often violent and crazy, abuse drugs, litter and cause massive problems for everyone else. Look at places like LA or Seattle, it is completely out of control with tent cities of these people essentially taking over entire blocks.

It's hilarious when lefties point to Indonesia as proof that islam and democracy are compatible. All it proves is that the cancer of islam has not fully metastasized in that region, and they are lucky is a collection of islands to slow things down.

Indonesia is extremely split in terms of which area permit what based on religious views. Bali is predominantly Hindu so im betting new rules would be more relaxed there

Then that's their own stupid fault for not doing their due diligence. Look, I get it, you don't want to place the blame on the people breaking the laws because you think ignorance is a valid defense because the countries they are visiting are in the wrong for being misleading. It's not though, so no matter what it ends up falling on the tourists not to fuck up.

And don't give me that "How are they supposed to find out?" crap when the internet is a thing. It takes a couple hours to figure that shit out.

It is not normal for people to pour over penal codes and a nation's laws before going on vacation, especially when the country is viewed as a modern nation that is Western friendly. What you are expecting is very unrealistic and just plain abnormal.

When people go abroad they might read something about dos and don't and behaving respectively but no one immersing themselves in local penal codes and laws. Arabs coming here on vacation aren't immersing themselves in American laws and penal codes , heck even Americans aren't doing that.

Well, then if they dont know the laws and break them by accident... it's still THEIR fault. It's the travellers job to be knowledgeable about the place they are travelling to, nobody elses. Stop trying to shift blame away from people due to ignorance, it's a silly defense that wont do anyone any favors.

Stop trying to shift blame away from shitty legislators and their theocratic garbage.

Defending them wont do anyone any favors.

Who said I was defending them? I think the laws are stupid, and the people making them are dumber still. But that doesnt change the fact that they are the ones in charge of making the laws for their country so you have to follow them. And part of following them is knowing what they are before you go.

And yet Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan aren't leading the world.

The U.S. understood these things at one point and hopefully we’re returning to it. If we keep continuing on the path of glorfying self destructive ways of living, they may very well soon be leading the world and not us.

Fake news, bestiality, AND black magic!!!!

They just had to pick my three favorite things!! Now Ill never go to Bali!

Good for Indonesia, they seem to be one of the smarter countries in the world, recognizing that these things are what cripple a society and not to be celebrated.

Black magic and condoms have been the downfalls of many great societies unfortunately.
