GTX 1080 is faster than two gtx 980's in SLI

In Virtual Reality, the GTX1080 gets 2x the performance of a titan X, with 3 times the energy efficiency.

599 dollars, releasing world wide on May 27th.

The GTX 1070 will be 379 dollars and faster than a Titan X, releasing June 10th.

AMD is fucked beyond fucked. They were already in bad shape, but this is a huge nail in their coffin. The 1080's power and efficiency are unreal, and the 1070 is insane as well (faster than a Titan X for $380.. are you kidding me!?).

I don't usually see nvidia prices drop all that much. I think they're pretty good at halting production and clearing their shelves before the new line comes out.

I saw mention of people waiting for HMB2. Can someone explain what that is? Also does AMD have anything coming up? They can't sit out, and they're forced to compete at similar price range, one would think?

Either way, I'd love to see how these would perform running the new Battlefield later this year., Wow.

1. I wouldn't go to overboard yet. The Titan X is a bad deal, so use the 980 ti as your reference.

2. HBM, not HMB. yes I can explain it but a google search will do it a lot better justice then me. Nvidia opted for the new GDR5X memory over it this gen because of production limitations. A year or two from now, it's all going to be HBM though

I saw some 3dmark scores and both cards look impressive. If the 1070 really does perform as described in real world applications I won't need any justification to upgrade from the 970.
