I am a fan of this guy. And he keeps surprising me how well grounded this guy is.

I translated the best I can, but here's the link:
http://esporte.uol.com.br/mma/ultimas-noticias/2013/04/17/erick-silva-ve-derrota-como-divisor-de-aguas-e-ve-expectativa-precoce.htm

UOL Esporte - How has your training routine for the fight against Hathaway?
Erick Silva - I'm doing specific training. I started training jiu-jitsu separately. Only jiu after only muay thai. We are training very specific modalities and correcting where I had the most failures. I've been training all but specific. Before I had full a MMA workout, mixed everything together. Now we fixed it and I can do much more then just MMA.

UOL Esporte - You did not fight since October 2012. Are you anxious to return?
Erick Silva - Not that I'm anxious, but I want to come back soon. It's been a long layoff, UFC and I was never more than four months inactive. Never had to stay out of a card due to an injury. With eight months off, I want to come back soon to show the public how I am improving.

UOL Esporte - What to expect from the next match, against Hathaway?
Erick Silva -
He is a wrestler and likes to take people down, but also a guy who accepts much striking. I saw some of his fights and he likes striking, Stays up. he has wingspan greater than mine. But I'm not worried, it even encourages me because I like to exchange. Even though I am from the ground game, I like to standup, so I think it favors my game.

UOL Esporte - You very quickly was elevated to the status of biggest Brazilian hope and afuture UFC champion. As it leads, do you think you were overhyped?
Erick Silva -
I'm pretty quiet about it. In the gym where I train, we have Rodrigo [Minotauro], Rog

Thanks man!

Ever since Matt Hughes retired, Erick Silva has taken my favorite welterweight spot.

He is a very down to earth guy and always brings it in all of his fights.

He's the fuckin man. Guy's going to go so far. Incredible showing against Fitch.

Good stuff. Gonna enjoy watching him wreck Hathaway.

Nice, thanks TS.

Erick has so much potential, and I think he's going to dominate Hathaway in this...

I'm a fan but I feel that he mentally checked out in the fitch fight when he realized he can't put away fitch and just focused on defending and making it to the score cards. But that choke would've finished most welterweights and jon fitch breaks guys wills so can't really make an accurate judgement of erick silva based on that performance.

Is he the new Vitor Belfort? All the pressure will break him? Hopefully he is mentally stronger.

War Eric, great guy! Really like how he always bring it!

Incredible that he is older than Jose Aldo and Renan Barao and still people see him as a "young prospect" (great fighter, but not that young)

I think he gassed...

Wish they'd asked him what he thought of the refereeing in Browne vs. Gonzaga.

Nice interview, thank you TS. I grow to like Silva more and more as I see him fight and read/hear an interview. I'll definitely be cheering for him. Prob my favorite WW

Well, I was looking to hear that he was training wrestling like a maniac, which I didn't. That's obviously the big gap in his game, as is common with many Brazillians, and the real reason for his loss to Fitch. I hope he does not think, again like many proud Brazillians, that all he needs is to improve his BJJ.

He needs to learn to both defend a takedown, and to impose his will by taking it there when he so needs or wishes. Wrestling should be his number one priority.

Erick looks really big and he said he had a bad and hard weight cut for the Fitch fight.
Maybe he'll become one of those guys, too big for WW, smaller than most MWs. Hope he can find his home.
