I just got my new computer today and I wanted to know what some of the first things I need to do are. Are there any essential programs that I need to download? I just want to make sure I have everything I need for it to work properly and to maximum capability. The OS is Windows 10 if that changes anything.

I run CCleaner, Malewarebytes, Advanced systemcare, and just the windows firewall and windows defender anti-virus. It's all free. I'm not a techie, but from what I've read, there's no reason to pay for any of that stuff. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I always start off by downloading Netscape and mIRC. Then I set up my CompuServe profile and update Word Perfect with the latest clip art. I can't really think of anything else you'll need after that but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Sorry I forgot about Encarta. You'll need it for your studies.

Go to right click My Computer, Manage, Services, turn off remote help or whatever that's called that lets people remotely control your computer.
