Never knew making eye contact could improve my sparring so much

I just do a lot better overall if I have eye contact with my opponent the entire team

Where were you looking before? Most people tend to look at the opponents chest so that the peripheral vision picks up all incoming strikes.

dont look at the head, the head moves and if your eyes follow it you'll find yourself eating a punch from your blindside.

what about a guy like nick diaz? he doesn't make eye contact during interviews, im sure he doesnt during the fight either. I would think between the collarbones too. also, could you imagine eye contact with machida? all those feints (sp)

Tell that to your sparring partners, breaks eye contact everytime, at which point he'll be ripe for a mayweather ortiz combo.

I would be willing to bet that Diaz does makes eye contact with his opponents. Probably not while engaging with his fist, but shit talking does no good if you don't make eye contact.
As for what is proper I will leave that to the experts.
