In 2015 the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed that Jon Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites in a random out of competition drug test taken 30 days prior to a schedeld title defense at UFC 182.

At the time the NSAC adopted WADA standards which do not ban cocaine out of competition leaving the regulator with no sanctioning options for the finding and with a potential legal issue on their hands for exceeding their jurisdiction by testing for a non-prohibited substance.

The NSAC appears to be responding to this by overhauling their regulations expressly making cocain, along with other stimulants, banned at all times, not just in competition. (shout out to Twitter’s @dimspace for the find).

Specifically, proposed NSAC NAC-467.850(1)(f) reads as follows:

NSAC Stimulant Reg

Section s-6 of the 2016 WADA Prohibited List lists not only cocaine but all of the following stimulants which, if this regulation passes, will be banned year round for all licenced fighters in Nevada

<mma1>

Sherdogs own @dimspace is quoted all over the article. (i tried to look if you had made a thread for this, but couldnt find)

Basically almost all pre-workouts will be banned.

Its fucking idiotic if it happens.

UFC and USADA have been working with athletes, telling them to check supplements etc and got to ufc.globaldro.com which enables them to check substances...

Lets say they are using a cold medicine that contains ephedra (pretty common)

They do their diligence and go to globaldro that tells them......

Banned In competition, but out of comp, as per WADA you are fine to take it...

And then Nevada test them out of competition, they are positive and charge them with a doping offence.

Its bollocks. It will cause nothing but confusion for the fighters. They are getting to grips with checking things, but you cant suddenly make half the "not banned out of competition" list banned at all times.

Still can't believe Jones never sued them for releasing that

That shit would have never happened to someone like Conor or Ronda

Next thing you know they ban boner pills and Jones will be on suicide alert...

Or maybe they are taking a allergy medication with Phenylpropanolamine in it....

Off the go to ufc.globaldro (or the wada website)

Not prohibited...

but then in Nevada....

Well in the most black and white sense.

The shit they're talking about is against the law.

Other than that I don't much give a fuck what consenting adults do behind closed doors.

Add in probably 75% of pre-workout boosters contain stimulants

State commissions. Especially the nsac

Let them use whatever recreational drugs they want, for fuck sake. And, talking about that, how will jonny bones ever fight again, then?

And you know it's complete garbage when even dimspace is shitting on it

no, cocaine is, cold medicine, flu tablets, allergy tablet arent

When will Americans wake the fuck up. And I say Americans knowing it's illegal elsewhere as well because Americans should hold themselves to a higher standard than say...Europeans.

Everyone should be FORCED to snort coke for a day. They'll realize it's the most over rated bull shit ever. Same with weed. You're going to tell me I can't smoke it? Have you even tried it? Cause if you haven't shut the fuck up.

So im clear, I dont actually have an issue with them banning recreational drugs in that Nevada only test you once a fight is booked and licence applied for, so they are only testing in camp so it shouldnt be an issue if anyone is taking coke in-camp they have problems.

Ive got a huge problem with them confusing the fuck out of athletes, athletes who meticulously check their supplements, medications etc against the wada list, find they are ok to take, only to be told that they are being banned because they arent allowed to take them in Nevada.

Thats just confusing, and does nothing at all to help with where the anti doping community is trying to go.

Dude, just go and hand these business cards out and make BANK!

Total bullshit. The NFL has a major opiate problem because they don't let them smoke weed which is way safer than gargling oxys.
