Maia winning was a shock cos most people here believe in Neil hype, Joe Silva shouldn't give Neil another winning streak.

That was deflating to say the least. Maia looked good as ever.

Why does Maia still fight? he's not going to ever win that belt.

Everytime Maia grapples and has enough gas he can dominate everyone on the ground.

I was pulling for Magny but the result wasn't much of a shock. The test was whether or not he shored up his grappling enough to survive. The prolonged nature of it and Maia not gassing were a bit surprising, though. I figured if Magny was going to get tapped it would be soon in the first round, but he was scrappy enough to drag it out, which I suppose could be seen as a silver lining lol.

What hype? Has any fighter EVER got less attention after going on that long of a winning streak?

I must not have been paying attention - Neil Magny had a hype train?

It sucks. If the dude had more personality he wouldve been in line for a title shot by now as well.

The Magny hype was OTT and unbearable. You could barely open a thread about a WW without hearing about how Magy was going to take over anyways.

Magny did well on the ground for a bit, Maia is just dominating people right now. If they keep giving him prospects he's gonna keep sending them back to the end of the line.

There was a decent amount of hype, definitely some posters who were talking about how elite he was. Nope.

Magny didn't have hype, but I still thought he would do well against Maia. Magny is a legit, well rounded fighter. I thought he'd be able to defend at least 1 takedown and he has better striking than Maia. That was a massacre.

Never got the hype. Nice win streak, mainly over low-level guys.

I thought he'd wilt once he faced a top WW, and I don't even consider Maia 'top, top', he's very good and high-level but he's not an elite WW IMO.

    Magny has reached his ceiling.

Can't say I wasn't buying the Magny hype. He looked good up to that point, but he got owned by a guy who's way out of his league on the ground. Not really any shame in that. Maia's performance was impressive

Maia is a beast. It goes to show the high calibre of fighters like Rory & Jake Shields that beat Maia in the WW.

Less than 1% of fighters will ever touch UFC gold. Should they cease competing? Besides, Maia looked on-point last night, and I expect him to replace Matt Brown in the Top 5.

He gave Rory a hell of a first round before he gassed, and I thought he beat Shields 48-47, but whatever, Maia is legit, no matter how you look at it.
