Need to start deadlifting

I would say a good place to start is to youtube some powerlifting videos of pros. Look at all the different techniques and try them out. I would also check out Inzer.com to look at some of their belts. I compete in powerlifting so I kinda know what Im talking about. As far as the weight goes start off were you feel comfortable but make sure you do your best to add weight every week even if it's just five more pounds. If your looking for power do no more than 5-6 reps on each one of your working sets. It's better to lift more weight a few times then small weight for higher reps if power is what your going for. Lean back and try drag that bar up your shins. Never round your back. Hope this helps a little. Good Luck.
