currently my routine goes like this:

Monday: BJJ / Weightlifting
Tuesday:Boxing
Wednesday:BJJ / Weightlifting
Thursday:Boxing
Friday:BJJ / Weightlifting
Saturday:Boxing

Plus i run 7.5km everyday..

Well i was wondering do people think its fine if i do Muay Thai monday through friday ontop of that??

What's your weightlifting routine like?

My first reaction is that that would be too much, but I'm just an S&P junkie who wandered into Conditioning.

It sounds like you are trying for too much.

My two cents is to just do one thing a day. (Outside of the weightlifting)

Sonny would know better.

On the bjj/weight days...if far from comp try to do bjj tech and weights. As the comp gets closer and bjj training turns up to heavy drills and fights, cut back to minimal weight training.

You shouldn't go heavy in bjj and heavy in weights at the same time.

As well, your jogging should cut back to interval running as comp gets closer.

Sounds like way too much training to me, some days your going to run, BJJ, weight train and then do muay thai? That sounds like your going to burn yourself out but its hard to say without knowing the intensity etc. I know guys dong 2- 3 workouts a day but a 3- 4 a day cycle is nuts.

to mimic the previous posters... unless you're sleeping every hour you aren't training or eating, that's a bit much i think. in order for an accurate response, you'd probably have to tell us what your lifting, thai boxing, and bjj entail. Is you bjj like mine (run, sprawls, burpees, leg lifts, tons of crunches, then technique, then rolling for 30-60min.) or is it fairly easy (stretch, technique, roll with two guys, done.)?? They have very different impacts on your body.

im not doing thai boxing at the moment just boxing and thats 2 hours, intensity is pretty high. BJJ i would say intensity is about medium to low warm up is nothing 10 sprawls and 20 technical stand ups then technique for an hour, hour in a half then rolling for 20 minutes. weightlifting is medium intensity i dont do it until i cant lift anymore so i keep energy for other things but i do enough that i feel the burn

edit.

wow strong overtraining there, watch out for it, it kinda crept up on me when I was lifting 4 times a week and playing sports 5 times a week, more isnt always better

i decided not to add muay thai and concentrate on cardio, flexibility and muscle strength, speed, and endurance so im stopping weightlifting and starting strength training and yoga. but thanks for the advice

I'd do a major revamp. With your training schedule, it looks like you are pretty serious. With your commitment, I'd look into getting a top quality S&C coach. I'm not talking about some personal trainer, but a true S&C coach who works with athletes and knows about MMA. A couple of things here...

your workload seems very high, possibly too much.

due to the fact that your workload is so high, you need to cut down on both the weight training and the running.

I don't know your weight training routine, but I think you should do something like Randy Couture's weight circuit or some of the other weight complexes floating around here; it won't require as much recovers/CNS won't be as weakened, and it will help both your conditioning and endurance, the most important aspects for grappling/boxing/MT.

The running should be cut down to 3 days a week (ideally Tu/Th/Sat), and I'd mix them between Tabata sprints, HIIT, and LSD.

I'm certainly no expert, just giving you my advice.

Really depends on what your work capacity is. Some people could do that routine for 10 years and be fine, others couldn't make it 10 days.

First glance I, like others, would say that is to much. I'd personally remove the weight day on Wednesday and replace it with a HIIT session, and also remove 2 running days (preferably Monday and Friday). That leaves you with 4 days of cardio + training and 2 strength days.

I think KK would also be a good person to talk to about this.

Experiment a little bit and see what works for you.

Brother, I hope that you a the type of guy who can recover fast, as you are sooo overtrainning. Running 7.5km ED and doing the amount of trainning that you are doing, with Sunday off only is craziness. Someone said in here that you shouldn't do BJJ and Weightlifting on the same day.. yes, I think you should take it easy, mainly on the days you do deadlifts, it's too much strain on your back.

b.s. Id like to meet anyone who is running that much and training that much and ask them why they arnt a champion? If u are training as many times as u say u are then you definitly arnt training at the right intensity

are u training up for a fight or for fun? 6 days a week is a shit load i physically cant do that, i get hurt and burned out. everyones different i guess, if you feel good keep it up man. when im training just to stay in shape i usually only do about 2-3 days a week of boxing ( i dont fight mma) and lift/run the other two days during the week. i drink on the weekends but im not the best role model of proper training.

How old are you? If you can't post a complete sentence, then it's possible that you are under the age of 15.

Different people have different workloads. Some guys can train hard everyday with very good results, others can't train hard but 3-4 days a week. It depends on the person, their diet, sleep, recovery ability, and work capacity.
