When I'm in someones guard the person will grab my pant legs with one arm and I think the other arm is on my sleeve/collar can't remember. Then they simply wait for me to adjust my weight off my heels and hit the sweep. I've noticed they can't do anything as long as I keep my weight on my heels. I normally don't get sweeped by it to much but I end up in a triangle/armbar type situation or close to it a lot.

Anyways if someone could let me know what to do or the name of the sweep so I can look up some things to do in this position that would be great.

I think you are referring to a flower type sweep that some call the Xande sweep, after Xande Ribiero.

    just pass the guard standing.
otherwise, you are at the mercy of the closed guard game.

It sounds like a flower sweep. even if you block it, he can submit or do other sweeps like pendulum sweep or hip bump sweep.

Agreed. You either have to get too high for him to have that leverage (standing pass) or too low for him to have the ability to control your balance in that way (Tozi passes).

do not let get the grips.

he needs to grab one sleve and opposite pants/leg.

so let him control one sleeve, as soonest he reaches for the opposite leg, grab his sleeve to block that vital grip.

    Totally agreed here too.

I rock this sweep a lot but don't face it much, because it's not really a long standing sweep at my new school. But they catch on quick and apparently it's been filtered down over the last few months to everyone else.

As a result, I'm finding myself feeling this sweep from a whole new angle....and I've been swept twice because I just didn't remember to stop that grip.

flower sweep is current favorite sweep.

    Why!

Because it is the perfect sweep to use against someone that has the perfect posture in the closed guard.

You know the perfect posture that they teach at your first class.
both hands on the hips, back straight and look up to the ceiling while pushing on his hips (on you knees)

I do the same with hip bump sweep as well.

Once it's in then it's in the best way to counter it is really just to not let someone get the grips they need. Sweeps are always so much harder to counter when in motion (near impossible).

also, some people will grab your tri instead of the sleeve so you don't feel as threatened.

I have started grabbing their hand when they grab my pant leg, popping to my feet, basing on my head and walking around so I can pass that hand to my other hand, under their body.

Another poster said that he did this when his opponent grabs his pant legs, works quite well.
