Sean Gannon was a white cop right around UFC 50. I remember he lost by TKO

I was thinking about Gannon the other day! I was trying to think of who might have been a less appropriate (in retrospect) addition to the roster than CM Punk. Gannon got a fight in the UFC off the back of a terrible "win" over Kimbo in a fight in a gym basement.

Thats the fight I thought of too. But I don't remember either being a cop?

James Irvin knocked out Terry Martin 9 seconds into the second round by flying knee at UFC 54. Neither were cops:

Spencer Fisher knocked out Matt Wiman by flying knee at 1:43 of the second round at UFC 60. Fisher was a security guard before competing in MMA:

I mean its pretty hard to think of anybody other than the two of them and the ghost of James Toney who were less qualified

I think Gannon is right at the bottom, and I honestly think CM Punk is *in theory* the most qualified. But in retrospect, after seeing him fight, he really wasn't.

He did shocking, like. I remember being intrigued, but soon as he started the walk out to the cage he just looked so fucking terrified. Think it ended very quickly in the first. Dude had zero place in real competition at all.

That's funny. Just goes to show how fucked up MMA used to be when beating Kimbo in a street fight gave someone credibility. Nowadays, you've got to go through a killer like CM Punk to get your name out there. :D

That's the exact way that I feel about Toney. He seemed like an interesting person (interesting not meaning I thought he had a shot at winning) at the time, but he should have never been in there.

Irvin wanted to be a police officer. Not sure if he ever achieved his dream though. Here's an excerpt of from one of his interviews:

Irvin: I’ve always wanted to be a police officer or a sheriff in LA County. Like half my family are cops: My uncles, my brothers, my grandparents were, and my other half swings hammers and builds houses.

Damn, this is the first time I've thought about Matt Wiman in a WHILE! What the fuck happened to him?
