Hi All,

I've got a pair of RING TO CAGE gloves, this pair exactly in 16 oz: http://www.ringtocage.com/training-gloves/

and tbh, I absolutely hate them. The glove feels like it's filled with too much fabric/material, I have to wiggle my fingers around the lining to get them all the way in and then there is a bar of material in the palm that I assume I should be able to grip but I just can't. The placement is too awkward.

The gloves were a gift so I've been using them on and off for the past two years; however, I find that I cannot make a fist in them. My fingers are all the way in and when I tighten my grip, any impact is on the middle knuckles which is painful and discourages me from hitting the bag or focus pads with any power. I've currently got a soft tissue injury in a digit of my index finger from a tournament (karate, bare knuckle) so since then I've been hitting the bag without any gloves, using a tight fist, to make sure I'm hitting the bag with the first two knuckles. But I know this isn't a solution since I can't do any kickboxing sparring without gloves.

Certainly gloves aren't supposed to fit the way mine fit me, right?

I once tried on a pair of Hayabusa Ikusa 16 oz gloves and while they noticeably had less padding over the knuckle area, it seems like the gloves fit better for someone with longer "piano" fingers. I don't want to just narrow my search to Hayabusa when there may be gloves out there for me in another line.

Your advise is very appreciated!

I personally prefer the Hayabusa Tokushu and Regenesis over the Ikusa. Best all around gloves imo.

I have long fingers and Fairtex fits pretty good. The hand pocket is really wide tho.

Triumph United death Adder and Death Stars also received great reviews in this forum.

You could get some Sabas. They received awesome reviews also.

Forgot...KO Fight Gear. 45$ all leather, compact, Thai style but super small so you can boxe with them no problem.

Sabas Pro series are great. Been using mine almost everyday for the last few months.

I suggest you try custom made gloves by Topboxer.I have 2 pairs and absolutely love them. You choose the padding, colour, fit etc.

Shame about the R2C, their reputation was really solid here for awhile, but I've heard a lot of bad experiences lately. If you have the funds, go with TopBoxer or UMA. Quality and customization all day. KOs are the best bang for your buck, but if you have long fingers like mine the break-in sucks. Some helpful info to better advise you would include hand shape, price range, and home country.

Man I want them so bad, but they would cost me 180$ cnd (with shipping and $ conversion). Do you think they are worth it ?
Hmm, I don't know. They're a really great pair of gloves but I don't know if I would pay more than I did. That's a tough call.

I've had mine for about five months now. The padding has noticeably worn down in the knuckle area (I use it for bag work), but the gloves really feel great. I'm always pleasantly surprised at how great they feel on the bag even with less padding. I'm waiting to see if they get to a point where I can't use them, but so far the worn down padding has not been a problem at all. If they last me at least another year or year and a half I'll probably invest in another pair.

I also have the SS gloves. I don't like them as much as the TC/pro series.

Hope that is somewhat helpful.

Just got a pair of sabas supersoft Velcro a few days ago,the liner is a Wee bit bunched up but other than that one of the nicest gloves I've used yet for hitting pads and bag, I was using grant professional training gloves and topping before these arrived , just waiting on a pair coming from topboxer aswell

Since you mention it, I do notice the bunching up of the liner with the SuperSoft gloves. It hasn't bothered me terribly, though.

How do the SuperSofts compare to your Grants? Have you tried the TripleCuff or ProSeries? I've heard people compare those favorably to Grants.

Thanks a lot for the honest answer.

fairtex > all

I don't think there is any catch all answer like that, unless it's TopBoxer/UMA due to customization. Fairtex has unbelievable quality and craftsmanship in gloves that are too wide for alot of hands.

KO Fight Gear seem like great value, but its only shipping in us. anyone got a canadian alternative?

If you're in Canada, then Rival's RS1 has a pretty good rep.

The new lime green and gold options look pretty swish too.

Sadly Rival are far from being 45$ lol

Gorilla Fight Gear used to have great gloves at a great price, but lately there is not much on the website.

I use the Rival RS1 on the heavy bag at the moment and I have to say that the padding is the most protective I ever tried. Of course Twins padding is as protective but the gloves are twice the size lol.

How long have you been using the RS1? And just for heavybag?

I notice the RS1 has an unconventional lacing system... would using elastic laces work fine like they would on normal laceups?

Hi.

Mind if I ask why you prefer the TC/Pro over the SS?

I have both as well, but I slightly favor the SS due to better impact absorption. The Pro/TC feels a little more comfortable though.

Do your SS also have 5 months of use? (I'm guessing these are your sparring gloves. If so then it wouldn't be an accurate comparison to your Pro model which are your bag gloves)

I wonder how the SS padding would be like now if they went through the same punishment as your Pros.

Been using them for about a month. Only on heavy bag so far. Want to see how they hold up since they are labeled sparring gloves.

I get my elastic laces this week so I will let you know how it works. I think it would work fine if I have them go through the tracks as well.
