Need advice on sights and attachments choice

McNamara, Tim Kennedy, Lucas at TRex arms, GarandThumb, MilSpecMojo... NO ONE that makes their living shooting guns have I ever seen run a laser (not counting the IR ones from like a MAWL). Lovell does in the vid above but I can't tell if he's doing it cause he likes the light it comes with or not.

They tell the bad guy where you are without the advantage of a bright white light blinding said bad guy.

I know SureFire has a set that runs both visible lasers and lights but I have never seen people use them.

Makes sense. The light will allow me to see what I'm doing so I don't trip at night and if it ever was a self defense situation, to determine whether or not the other guy is armed.

Last question, is it redundant to have both glowing tritium sights and a light attached because of the light spillage that @RerouteToRemain mentioned earlier? Are black sights + light the way to go rather than tritium sights + light? What do you guys think?

Tritium has the advantage even with spill. They also have benefits outdoors where spill won't light up the sights as well. They also allow to more easily find your gun in the dark if it's on/in a night stand.

Nothing wrong with having a surefire and tritium. If I didn't have a red dot sight I want a Tritium or fiber optic set up. As far as which one that's a preference. I'm thinking you'll probably enjoy the tritium.

Black sights for me are for red dots otherwise I'd choose a fiber optic front or Tritium.

Thanks. Going to get those sights from brownell first and then probably hold off on the light because it will mean that I'll need a new holster as well so that will be a big purchase. Learned some new stuff today

Just an fyi: the coupon code is not valid

Add the web app to your browser called Honey, it helps find coupon codes.

And when it comes time to grab a light stick to SureFire, StreamLight, or InForce.

Cloud seems to be pretty good. Think ill pick up the OWL and see how it runs

From what I've seen of gunfights on the internet, the sights aren't going to be terribly important. Putting the center of the light on target might be the more practical way to aim.

I have a glock 17 and want to do a couple basic upgrades to it. Budget is kind of tight right now but I would rather spend more to do something right the first time even if it means I only do one upgrade for now.

First, sights

I was thinking of either going with the tru glo tridium sights or a red dot system. The red dot system looks a little goofy to me. I prefer that the truglo is a more traditional and minimalist ironsight style though I've heard the red dot system allows you to aim very fast so maybe it's worth it(?).

Tritium sights?

Or

Red dot sights?

My personal preference is not for red dot sights on a handgun.

I've never liked them.

They're nice on a carbine I guess.

So for the red dot you would have to get the slide milled unless you have a mos model. A milled slide the dot will sit lower. Some people don't like red dots on pistols, I do.

Quality light, no laser. Surefire or streamlight if you need a more budget conscious option.

As far as sights that's a very personal thing. I like a thin front sight.

I'm in the same boat....I like a red dot on a pistol.
I use holosun and rmr's. Surefire and streamlight for a weapon light.

I haven't tried the holosun micro dots but my favorite dot I've used is Leupold DPP.

The rmr window is a bit small and I'm not a big fan of the blue tint to the glass. I have a mild astigmatism so the small window doesn't work as well for me.

Rmr doesn't bother me...but I understand it does bother others. It's my favorite when it comes to red dots on pistols and is absolutely durable as hell and rock solid. I have 3 and one rmrcc....2 holosun 507c 's. I haven't had a ton of rounds with the holosuns( about 6-700)...mostly through one of my xdm elites....but so far I'm really liking it. It has a reticle similar to an eotech but you can change it to a single dot if you prefer.
