    hello all,

I been doing bjj for 2 months at a club (going to a legit place starting in 2 weeks) and I was trying to counter a guillotine. I am obviously really new at everything and passed guard on the same side as the arm under my neck. From what I understand, this not only tightens the guillotine, but also turns it into a neck crank.

Needless to say, my neck is the most sore its ever been. I can't turn it without feeling some serious pain.
Have you guys ever been in a neck crank? Should I get my neck checked out or just ride it out?

If you're in that much pain (especially in your neck) see a doctor

If you're free rolling and do something wrong, or something that you weren't taught to do you can exactly blame the dojo/gym

Yeah it wasn't his fault. The club is taught by a purple belt who is also my professor. I just did it wrong.

I put a lot of people in neck cranks. The Blue(im a "green belt" white at the time) I almost subbed with it told me the next day at the gyms anniversary BBQ that his neck was sore. It might be normal but it might not. If your worried go to the doctor. Better safe than sorry and you'll get peace of mind out of it too. Did you stretch before class?
