Navy to file negligent homicide charges for crashed ships

Good. Lost a shipmate on the McCain. I’m sure they’ll blame some low level schlub like us though

I've been reading that a lot of chains of command have been relieved in 7th Fleet.

Which in itself does not guarantee a whole lot, including justice. The commander is either given a new assignment or granted an early retirement with a full pension. Reference someone like 7437.

In many cases it does not.

If you are relieved at the 10 year mark in your career you are not making 20 for retirement. And I am going through my memory and thinking of someone who was granted a full pension with early retirement after being relieved - not coming up with any from my first hand experience. I have seen quite a few commanders relieved and many of them lose a star as they bow out. In those cases, yeah, those guys with 20 years there isn't much you can do. When I left Ft Riley the post commander was relieved. Good fucking riddance but yeah - hes pulling a full retirement.

It's been my experience when a guy an o3-o5 guy is relieved there is little to no chance of a pension. And I think many of those people relieved in the 7th fleet fall into that category.

Interesting. What did the Ft. Riley post Commander do to get relieved? You do have O4s and O5s with 20 years. Some have prior enlistment time factored in. Some of the other officers could probably finish their 20 years in the Reserves.
