He mentioned not having a full camp for this fight while Conor was sparring every day.

Not looking too good for Nate if he's already got an excuse lined up in the 1st press conference.

he did not seem confident that he would win AT ALL. i think hes already lost the fight before it started

Wonder what Conor's excuse will be when he is choked unconscious...

It's not really an excuse if Diaz is taking a Short notice fight against a guy who has been preparing for months. That's common sense.

That's why I wanted Cerrone for this fight because he just fought and he would be ready. The UFC knows this and that's why they chose another fighter who isn't prepared.

Just like when they didn't choose Edgar for UFC 189 and instead chose Mendes. Edgar was ready to go and they didn't want that.

Thats Daiz mentality anyways.

The whole weight thing was weird. He claimed he was ready for 155. Clearly not since you aren't fighting at 155. Might have been his management, but still.

Chad was #2 and just coming off a first round KO win over a top 5 FW whereas Frankie was coming off a less than spectacular performance against a bantamweight.

It's not an excuse, it's just the facts. Dude literally has a few DAYS to train for the fight.

That being said, fighters who are in the mix of things (top ten material) should be training (at least cardio) year round imo, so they are always somewhat ready. Especially with the recent history of injury pull-outs.

It's an excuse in case he loses but if he wins then it's a feather in his cap.

If he was confident and knows he would walk right through Conor then he wouldn't say anything about not having enough time.

This is what Jones said when he got his title shot as a late notice replacement.

“I feel great. I’ve got it so great. I’m going for a world title, baby. Let’s do it.”

You see conspiracies everywhere man. The reason Mendez, and not Edgar was chosen to fight McGregor when Aldo was injured, is because Mendez were knocking out people left and right. Edgar went for the boring decisions. Mendez was definetively the more fan-friendly fight.

The same goes here. People love Diaz. He is the fan-favoured fighter. Its the fight that the fans want to see. Simple as that

That's why Conor picked to fight Nate and not any of the options that were already training for a fight.

And Frankie was prepared for a fight and was in fight shape for UFC 189 where as Mendes wasn't. And who cares about the last fight for Edgar when he just beat Cub Swanson who was the real #1 contender.

Who's Mendez?

Frankie was training everyday and campaigning nonstop for the fight. Dana chose Chad because he was drinking beers and hunting. You think he'd give Conor the toughest replacement fight against the former LW champ and risk losing the biggest FW fight ever?

I don't know how anyone can be confident fighting in a cage against a game opponent on 11 day notice... Of course he's going to say he didn't have full camp, wouldn't you?

It's not an excuse though. This IS another short notice fighter for Conor. 3 days camp is just lol for such a big fight.

Excuses =/= reasons.

Well its accurate so im not sure thats a canned excuse. Its a fact at this point.

Comparing Jones with this is just idiotic. Jones fought at UFC 126 in February and then fought Shogun in March, that's not short notice because he was already in fighting shape for the Shogun fight and he was helping Rashad prepare for Shogun. Jones was more than prepared for Shogun going into that fight and it showed.

It sucks for both Nate and Conor. Nate isn't prepared and if Conor wins, again he's beaten an unprepared, out of shape fighter.

It's a real interesting fight when both guys are ready. I don't know what to think about Nate not having a camp.

It sucks.

Not an excuse - as much as its the truth. Much respect for Nate stepping in, getting his payday and likely giving it his all. The dude will show up and fight, he mentioned the "kill or be killed" mentality, which I respect. This will likely end late first round / early second round, but Nate will do his part and put on a show.
