Hard to go back to making 60k a fight when you just made a few mil. Especially when you finished the UFC's biggest star and barely lost a close majority decision in the rematch in a fight where he out landed him and had Mcgregor running away the second half of the fight. In the long run, Diaz might be right to sit out. If Mcgregor really does want to finish the trilogy, and Diaz pulls off the win, he'll look like a genius for waiting out.
 
? The diaz brothers are pathologically unafraid of fighting anyone. They have proved it over and over again over the years.

The issue here is Nate got two huge pay days and he now feels that he deserves similar paydays going forward.

Who wouldn't want to have big fights and big paydays rather than a bunch of 50k fights? Nate can likely beat most of the top 15 at lightweight but most of those fights are not money fights. nate is a draw but there has to be an equal draw on the other side.

Nate vs. Gaedjthe or Alvarez both would have been great fights but Gaedjthe is out to coach TUF and so is Eddie....

How did Nick mismanage his whole career? He built his brand outside of the UFC, became a star, and came back to the UFC making 6 figure paychecks. How many other fighters can say that?

Diaz bro's are smarter than ya'll think.

Pissed away some of his prime fighting and earning years refusing to take any fights if they weren't for the title when he hasn't had a win since bj who boxed him up the first round. I bet he could have been getting 200-400k purses. At one point he was demanding 10m dollar purses.

He may be 90% sure he'll win.. but thats still taking a 10% chance that you lose a 10 million+ dollar payday. Conor has mentioned wanting to do the trilogy with nate so might as well wait it out.

And nate has a good shot of losing against the top 5 anyways
 
Or maybe he a realist and understands he has less than a 50% chance of winning as he has lost 4 of his last 7.
 
Sherdog seems to have a hard time understanding that fighters can have motives for not taking a fight that have nothing whatsoever to do with FEAR.
 
Because he knows the holes in his own game, he hadn't worked takedown defense in 20 years, and luckily the guy who makes fighters millions loves to stand and bang like him.
 
From the Guida fight on Nate is... 9-9 so he's as likely to lose to anyone they give him as he is to beat them.
