obviously this is a payday for Pettis but if he wins where would it realistically put him in the division since the fight is at 170lbs?

UFC would put him in top 10.

In reality, it's hard to say. Pettis beat one of the top 170 pounders in dynamic fashion, but it was a single fight. No one really knows how Pettis is going to compete long term at 170.

Frankly, this fight doesn't do anything for Pettis' other than make him money.

This fight is not about moving toward a belt.

Pettis is ranked 8th. Now, the bullshit way the UFC does things alot of times is the winning fighter just usurps the rank of the other guy. Not always but alot. Since it’s Nate, and I think the UFC wants to keep Nate in the rankings somewhere.

So I could see them putting Nate anywhere from 8-10 if he wins.

But, the rankings are pure bullshit, and have been for years.

    I don't think it matters

You don't actually think Nate is making a title run at welterweight.......do you?

This isn't a fight that's relevant to rankings at all.

I thought Nate beat Kim. Fight metrix had him winning that shit too.

It was close for sure. Came down to the 2nd. I think DHK edged it

Neither Pettis nor Diaz do well against capable wrestlers, so this is a good match-up for both. Divisional relevance aside, this is an exciting fight.

He has previously stated that he doesn’t give a shit about rankings at this point. He just wants fun flights.

No where, they're both unranked in ww. Maybe the thompson win might put him in the top 10, but this ww thing might be a temporary thing for Pettis, he's probably gonna move down soon after.

If Nate wins you know the only two names he's bringing up are Conor and khabib. He obviously doesn't give a fuck where he fits in UFC grand scheme.

Pettis is a relative unknown at welterweight, he lost every round leading up to that spectacular KO. Who knows what kind of Diaz were getting after such a long Lay off but he certainly has the tools and experience to win

He lost 1 round leading up to that KO. They were both landing and the fight went just as Pettis' gameplanned to with the leg kicks against one of the top WWs. Give him credit.

Nate is good but he was getting hurt by McGregor's measly leg kicks.
