Nate is a real BJJ wizard in terms of MMA. He's one of the most dangerous submission guys around. Hats off to Conor for even defending that guillotine though because that's one of Nate's best submissions.
But yeah, the way he stopped Conor from going to side control by blocking Conor's left leg by getting a hook with his (Nate's) left leg. Everything Nate did here on the ground was just perfect. The way he stopped Conor's side control, the way he took mount and how easily he flattened Conor when he rolled over to his knees.
Conor made a huge mistake when he rolled to his knees, though. He didn't actually go up on his knees, his legs were too far back, if that makes any sense. If he rolled over and had his knees up higher instead of so far back, he wouldn't have been flattened as easily.
Then the way Nate literally just punches Conor's head towards his right arm in order to sink in the choke. He literally punched Conor's head into the choke. Conor made the mistake of turning his head into Nate's arm.
It's not because Conor's ground game is that bad though, it's just that Nate's is that good. People are talking about how his ground game sucks, but he did sweep Nate in the first round, even though I believe Nate was just rolling with it because he didn't really try to stop it, Nick does the same thing sometimes. And also the way he defend the guillotine was very well done, but Nate was simply just a step ahead and it's not surprising.
Nate has always been known as an extremely dangerous BJJ guy. When the fight went to the mat, it's not surprising at all that Nate outclassed him there. Conor has only been taking all aspects of MMA very seriously for just a couple years now and his improvements in that time is very impressive.
Overall, it was a great fight. Very few guys would've been able to take those shots from Conor. Nate's jab looked better than ever in this one, too.
