your body is covered with staph mostly in your nose. All it takes is getting a break in the skin and sweat or snot to get in it for the bacteria to start going crazy. Fighters are constanly getting little mat burns and then having them constantly be covered in sweat.

Why fighters get this kind of infection so often?

A common one is being hairy or having a pimple.
When you grapple, the hair gets forced back into the skin, clogging it with bacteria from the surface, same with a pimple, the pressure forces everything inward and back-up. Then in swells with infection.
