Why do get the feeling this picture will have birds in it by the end of the day?

I read a series of articles that made it clear, in no uncertain terms, why we weren't going to ever find a planet similar enough to Earthto be Terran habitable, or be able to adequately terraform another plantet, or deal with the million factors that bind us to this rock, and it made me very sad.

    Don't believe it then.
    A) it could very well turn out that article is wrong; scientists have been confidently predicting negative outcomes for centuries and turned out to be dead wrong, often within their own lifetimes

    B) We can't know until a probe is sent to a candidate about habitability, but we'll certainly find Earth-mass planets in acceptably temperate zones. Either way, it'll never matter to you or me, so choose the positive way to look at it.

The thing is, when I was a kid I decided I was never going to die, so I'm not going to die, and this is going to have consequences for me.

    Think of it this way:
Every atom in your body existed long before you, was part of a long-exploded sun, part of a planetoid, an animal, the atmosphere, etc.
Every atom of you will rejoin that cycle and become part of other things for millennia. In this way, we're all eternal.

    You can't have my atoms.

    I'm keeping them.

It's really an amusing taste of things in our far future.
Someday, we will be exploring the gas giant moons, there'll be bases and a mining culture in the asteroid belt, maybe on Ceres.

These posters hit my inner nerd hard; I couldn't have dreamed up anything so awesome, it's like somebody knew I'd go nuts over these.
And the best part is, they're free.

I'd split my atoms before releasing them.
