so "get as much sleep as you can to recover"
usually after the gym i take an hour nap afterwards, then i'm off to work, then come home and normally get about 8 hours sleep.

question: does this nap totally fuck over my recovery process?

Can't answer your question, but to piggy back on it, sometimes I take naps prior to lifting. Haven't noticed any ill effects..yet.

there is a rumor that gluconeogenesis occurs during sleep..

So be sure to eat well, before you go to sleep..

body recovers the most during a rem cycle...so....a one hour nap probably won't do much besides making you wake up stiff as a board (not penis related)

I see what you're saying, and I haven't done much research myself, but I do remember reading about a study done on doctors and others who had gone for significant stretches (24 hours or more) without sleep, which said that even a 20- or 45-minute nap made significant improvement to the person's mental functioning, as opposed to those who had no sleep at all. I'm not sure it the same would apply to people who sleep at night, and then have a nap in addition....

I guess it doesn't hurt you but I've noticed that naps directly before lifting makes me extremely tired and unmotivated to lift. I take a lot more time between sets on those days.

Studies have shown that brief naps during the day DO improve concentration levels, it's like a brain refresh.

I was speaking strictly of physical function..
Sleep always helps the brain..

I don't jump out of bed and start lifting. I usually grab my jump rope and do plenty of dynamic stretches as a warmup.

Eat before you take the nap. If you have trouble waking up after the nap, Im sure Bacon can hook you up with some left over drugs from a family get together.

Phx, stop being a dickhead.

Anyhoo...I fucking LOVE naps after my Squat workout. I get home, eat lunch, and get KTFO'd for a couple hours.

Being a dickhead would be looking up his IP address, and alerting authorities, he admitted to comiting a felony on a public forum.

I'm sorry, sweetheart...did you say something?

have a small bowl of cottage cheese or something before you do the nap thing. the protein will probably help out right before you sleep.

I usually take a nap in between sets.

But yea I'd take a nap after training if I could. I'm usually too tired to move.
